Can I ask a stupid question?

Even if someone is “trans”, and you feel like a man trapped in a woman’s body, etc, aren’t such people still going to be identified as either male or female?

What exactly is discrimination about requiring all to be identified as either male or female, one or the other?

I understand there are over 50 gender identities discovered so far, but isn’t that a separate subject from the sex marker on identity documents such as passports and driver’s licenses?
