What law do you propose that would prevent it?

Same thing that prevents them from selling them privately. Nothing.

Other than being an illegal Straw Man purchase, I don’t know.

If no FFL is involved, how is it a straw purchase?

Depends on the state. NV used to “allow” in-state private party transfers without an FFL’s involvement. The Kalifornia invasion fixed that.

YMMV.

What stops an illegal cartels member from illegally crossing our border with a cartel supplied gun?
What stops an illegal cartel member from bringing illegal drugs into our country.
What keeps an illegal cartel member from illegally killing someone in our country with a legally purchased machete ?
See how that works? They are criminals. They don’t try to follow the law.

The libs want ALL transactions to go through a dealer. You give one to your dad. You buddy wants to buy one you tried and decided to get rid of, etc.

This.

Exactly this.

Unless you have enforced black-letter law that makes it a criminal offense for an American to let an illegal alien into the country, or having found one, to give or sell that illegal alien anything other than a ride out of the country, the commerce in Constitutionally protected items will continue.

Even the law I have just described would not prevent the next occurrence. Given highly visible enforcement with severe penalties, the frequency could be reduced. That has worked for most generally accepted criminal law.

I was in an LGS once, and a couple brought in a shotgun for a going over before duck season. They got their receipt for it, and she decided to buy a used shotgun in case it wasn’t ready in time for the opener. She was denied the purchase. They laughed it off...I guess it was some fight they’d had where the police showed up. She said. “Well, I guess I’ll take the other one home, then.” Guess again.

Same requirements that are required to purchase from our largest firearms dealers.

A professional cartel member can get across an Iron curtain.

A simple solution would be death penalty for any illegal alien buying or possessing a firearm in the United States. Only US citizen should be allowed a firearm in the United States. I don’t think there’s any constitutional restriction against such a limitation.

It’s a federal crime for an illegal to possess a firearm…

Law breakers don’t follow laws

The same law that prevents them from entering the US illegally or selling illegal drugs.. None. They’re criminals. They don’t obey any laws.

Cartels generally get their Firearms via the ATF Programs like Fast And Furious, US Government Bureaucracies are here to serve.

I agree.

A Cartel army can drop into Texas and pick as many AR15s private party as needed.

Sure hope they don’t learn of this.

“It’s a federal crime for an illegal to possess a firearm”

Define “illegal”.

Until one is legally convicted in a court of law, they are perfectly LEGAL under the current administration. And, as such, they can possess and own as many firearms as they want.

Who says he bought it? It wasn’t from a licensed dealer - it was probably stolen, and sold “cheap” for cash.

Secure the border, as this guy had been deported twice - and was back in the US because of Biden’s open door policy.
