There were actually very few Africans imported by the British to North America. What they did import they mostly sent to the islands.
And I think you should go for it.
Everybody has ancestors who were badly treated. We need to make their descendants pay.
Or we could just let it go and live a happy life but what is the fun in that?

There were right at 338.000 Africans imported into North America, mostly by the Portuguese. They were, generally speaking, already slaves of other Africans, and had been for generations.
Millions of Irish were rounded up and forcibly enslaved.
The far larger participants in the slave trade were the islands and Brazil. They kept up the trade for 75+ years after the USA outlawed it.
Facts are, the transatlantic slave trade was started by black men enslaving other blacks and ended by white men who were horrified by it.
Slavery in Africa remains alive and well.
