Unfortunately, competition is under attack in my beloved Wisconsin when it comes to energy choice. For the state where I grew up watching my father decry and fight like hell against the ruinous policies of Robert LaFollette Jr., who turned the state into a progressive paradise of which only Karl Marx and Gus Hall could be proud, I want nothing more than a vibrant competitive market.
While Gov. Scott Walker has done more than any other Wisconsin governor in recent memory to undo policies that threaten competition, hes missing the boat on energy choice in the state.

Walker is NOT a member of the Tea Party. That doesn’t mean that he doesn’t agree with them on many things, but he never campaigned, nor alleged affiliation, with the Tea Party.

Is solar power a viable alternative in Wisconsin winters?
not really that much. snow requires’removal and cleaning the panels. falling ice is a danger’to any kind of solar farm array, one of which got badly’damaged being close to a tv transmitter tower.
That’s what I thought. Here in Florida even with reliable sunshine, about the only uses for residential solar panels are heating water for swimming pools, supplementing water heaters and yard lighting. I don’t get the point of the article.
Hmmm. Joined TODAY to tell Wisconsinites how UNHAPPY they should be with their Governor?
Sure. Yep. Right.
IBTZ!
Bless your heart!
i think mid-spring to mid-fall they could be good for supplementing a primary power supply, and maybe short term emergency with a battery array, but that’s about it. one or two small residential wind turbines would probably be more useful.
My thoughts also, my FRiend.

No one is saying Wisconsinites should be UPSET with their governor. But I believe you and your fellow citizens should be able to choose who you get your electricity from. To me, it’s a basic freedom, and the free market should decide winners and losers, not government.
The issue isn’t Walker himself as much as it is the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, but since those commissioners are appointed by Walker, I believe it would be naive to think he can’t influence them to do the right thing and return power (literally and figuratively) to the people of the state). Don’t you agree?
Sometimes a well regulated power company monopoly - a commodity that EVERYbody uses, where there can be great economies of scale, is the most efficient lowest cost per capita way to go. Sort of like with roads, and water pipes. The state departments of transportation are like utility monopolies. Sometimes these TEA crusades go a bit too far in their pursuit of purity. The utilities raising their prices could be because of Obama - and every solar guy that leaves the market means higher costs per utility customer that remains. TEA is going to pick a fight now with the best presidential candidate in the field? Good grief.
