The percentage of children born in Black America who behave as Travon seems to have done is much greater than the percentage of children born in White America who do such things. So in that sense the author's statement is correct; its meaning is essentially as you describe. The problem is that liberals use the term "race" to refer to a particular culture whose adherents reject non-dark-skinned people. They argue that it's not right to discriminate against someone on the basis of their skin color, and then use that to imply not only that it's not right to discriminate against people on the basis of their culture, but that it's not even right to discriminate against people on the basis of culturally-mandated behaviors, notwithstanding that it is the leftist-mandated lack of such "discrimination" that has led to the lack of moral discipline within Black American culture.
I guess the Black community sees no problem in Trayvon criminally assaulting Zimmerman instead of just going home. Seems to me the problem here is the Black community failing to see just how messed up so many young black males are. Trayvon is just another example of such.
I am confident that the author didn’t mean to imply that all American blacks are thugs but it is the only premise that makes his statements logical.

WHY do you totally discount the fact that Zimmerman was patrolling a Condo complex that's been inundated with a frequent degree of break-ins and theft? That Martin had been in the possession of stolen jewelry? And especially for totally ignoring the FACT that Martin assaulted Zimmerman and may have beaten him to death had he not defended himself with lethal force.

We do care. We care a lot when someone starts spewing ignorant, fact-free talking points right from Sharpton's agenda. And refers to statements of fact about black crime levels as racism.
