I hate to give Steven Spielberg any money, and I hate the fact that Spielberg spouts the lie that the Republican party of Lincoln's day is now the Democrat party.
I am sure that it is another Lefty propaganda piece.
But it looks like a well-made movie.
Should I stay or should I go?
My sister lives in rural Georgia. Her son’s 2nd grade teacher refers to the Civil War as The War of Northern Aggression.
Stay home and read The Real Lincoln instead.
Right. Or plan a trip to Springfield Illinois and visit the Lincoln Museum.
save your money, you’ll see it for free soon enough. I refuse to give Hollywood anymore money. It’s ova.
Boy, living in the 21st.century must really suck for you, huh? Would you be happier living in 1861?
we cannot just give money to people like Spielberg by supporting his movies and then complain how he supports the Democrats with the money he makes off his movies.I mean if there is such a need to see the movie, I would wait for the dvd or READ a book, Historical book by good solid authors of History. I agree with READ books.
If you do, be sure to write Sic Semper Tyrannis in the guest book.
Excellent post. We were a republic, until the lanky yankee came along.
Well, it’s gotta script by Tony Kushner so maybe Old Abe supports gay marriage as well as the 13th Amendment.
Personally, I would wait til tomorrow and go to the library to rent Gore Vidal’s novel “Lincoln.” A very great read.
Don’t let your politics interfere with your entertainment. If the movie looks interesting to you go see it. Life is too short to miss fun because of politics, enjoy yourself, the national crisis will still be here when you get back.
Why give Spielberg your money? It is only a movie.
It will be out on Redbox soon enough.
Cook something nice for your wife for dinner.
There are lots of books on Lincoln. Writing about Lincoln is its own cottage industry. However, I read stuff to get to know the real man. Know this, he was NOT a screamer. He personally wrote one of the greatest speeches known to man. He had a tinny voice. He truly felt that God had a mission for him and that his one goal was to preserve the Union. And, his wife was actually a thoughtful helpmate.
Bowling is not a bad option.
Can you expound on that a little?
The concept is absurd. The enema is NK. Ought to be 101st or 82nd.
"All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years." -Lincoln
I’m sure it’s loaded with the usual anachronisms.
I can’t take it seriously because Daniel Day-Lewis’s Lincoln voice sounds like Grandpa Simpson.
But maybe Ebert's anatomy is different from other peoples's.
If he's talking out of another orifice than the rest of us do that might explain some of his reviews.
Ebert and Gallo made up later -- like Ebert and Rob Schneider who also feuded.
I've hated Roger Ebert for a long time, but apparently he doesn't take these things personally, and that's to his credit.
Don't know nuthin bout Lincoln, but coconut oil is good for you again.
Skyfall was good fun.
