Around the country, night workers at Walmart stores are being told to come in five hours early ON Thanksgiving. After having work until 7am that morning, they must get whatever sleep they can and then reutrn to work at 5pm for a 12 hour shift. How much time does this leave for them to spend the holiday with their family?
Walmart wants to call their employees associates. No, they are just workers.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
If you don’t like it, find another job. Stop crying, it makes you sound like a liberal.
I think it is a job and extra pay in a bad economy.
I think any of the workers that dont want to show up for work should be fired.
Be thankful you have a job. Get off your ass and get to work.
Your reward will come in God’s time, not yours.
Some people don’t mind working for the extra money. I am sure some of them will actually get overtime or differential pay.
what I think of it is that”s life” The number of holidays I’ve had to work while raising my family are countless. If it’s part of the job stop the damn complaining an do it. Otherwise, the unions move in. Really, it’s a dumb post
Blame it on all of the people that just have to get that early Black Friday gift.....MEH!
Perhaps they should feel Blessed
that they have a job in
0bama's DEPRESSION.
Exactly, let someone who WANTS to work take the job.
They would probably do a better job via attitude anyway!
I think it is great. I will let them know that I am all for this. Thanks for the suggestion. I like this better than having to get up early in the morning on Friday. I think it is a brilliant capitalistic move. My family will head over after dinner and the game.
Are you friggin kidding me?
Many people dont have a job at all!
So it is not ok to work at Wal Mart on Thanksgiving, but I assume it is ok to go help out and work at a soup kitchen all day...
There is no overtime at Walmart. They will be sent home four hours early from their next shift. There is only My Share every three months which every employee gets, but the company extracts price match loss from that pay.
Some businesses do not compensate seasonal part-time labor for holiday pay. Still, it IS a job. It IS income.
I’m working a seasonal job and glad to have one. I understood the “constraints” to my personal schedule when I signed on.
Having a job/income is a good reason to be THANKFUL.
On Thanksgiving, be damned thankful you have a job and do your turkey a day early or on Sunday after you get some sleep.
I doubt you'll find much sympathy here.
How hard do you think the actual PILGRIMS worked?????
I will. On a related note, Walgreens is open Thanksgiving and Christmas, when everything else is closed. Also, just recently the head honchos decided after many years of providing shirts to employees, to require the employees to buy their own. They have to be navy blue in color, which is impossible to find. Add the fact that most store employees are living paycheck to paycheck in this economy. Please tell them what you think.
Walmart is retail. Anyone working retail should know perfectly well that they’ll have to work a lot around the holidays. What’s the problem? If people don’t like the job they can quit.
Your post sounds like the typical anti-corporate, liberal gibberish one would expect to find at an occupypublicparks rally.
My Husband and I worked the Holidays for years, yeah it’s not fun but you do what you have to do.
A lot of the people at Walmart are either grateful to have a job at all, or should be. If you don’t like working conditions, quit.
