Exceptionally stupid. Although, if he’s intent on digging up background on The One, I wouldn’t mind seeing what he comes up with by way of transcripts from Columbia.
“It’s an insult to his mother and to his father, and I knew his mother and father; they were my friends, and I have an emotional interest in that,” Governor Abercrombie said in a telephone interview late Thursday. “It’s an emotional insult. It is disrespectful to the president; it is disrespectful to the office.”
The governor, a Democrat and former congressman, said he has initiated conversations with the state’s attorney general and the chief of its Health Department about how he can release more explicit documentation of Mr. Obama’s birth on Aug. 4, 1961, at Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital. He said he has done so of his own accord, without consulting the White House, which declined to comment…
Mr. Abercrombie, 72, said that although he did not see the elder Obamas at the hospital with their newborn son, he did remember the couple bringing the baby to social events. He says the critics who suggest that Mr. Obama’s mother slipped off to Kenya to give birth are engaging in a “demonological fantasy.” And he is angry about legislation in several states that would require presidential candidates to document that they were born in this country. A similar bill died in Congress last year.
First, and apropos of nothing, my mind is blown by the fact that the governor of Hawaii remembers the president of the United States as an infant. But never mind that.
Why is this tool dredging up an issue that, mercifully, had begun to go away? Hawaii’s records department received only 16 requests for Obama’s birth certificate in November, down from 50 or so a month last year. Higher courts have waved away multiple Birther petitions, and the court-martial of Lt. Col. Terry Lakin ended with him pleading guilty to failing to report for duty. This subject has no traction, in other words, either legally or in mainstream media, and thus had probably never been fringier when Abercrombie spoke up and decided to treat it as a problem that needs solving. Even his personal testimony about having seen Obama as a baby in Hawaii won’t count for anything among true believers, since he admits that he wasn’t at the hospital for the delivery — which is too bad, since it would have been fun to watch them come up with theories to explain even that inconvenient fact away. (It was a changeling!)
This guy’s now placed himself in the following position. Either he inadvertently revives the Birther movement by crusading for a new law to make long-form birth certificates public without the approval of the individuals to whom they belong or he decides nothing can be done legally and backs off, which will itself inflame Birthers by inspiring dark theories about pressure on him from the White House to quiet down. And of course, since Abercrombie’s a liberal Democrat, if he does somehow manage to produce the long-form certificate and it confirms that Obama’s birth happened as alleged, skeptics will dismiss it as a forgery planted by an ideological ally to throw Birthers off the scent of the “real” birth certificate. He can’t win here. Why would he even try?

Even if it showed someone else was the bio-dad who happened to be a US Citizen (e.g. Frank Marshall Davis), I don't think Obama could withstand the exposure that his entire life narrative was a lie.
Actually, young college students back in the early Sixties often did take the baby absolutely everywhere. It was a scandal to our parents and their friends. Nursing mothers were often encouraged to drink beer to increase the flow and people would often put the baby in another room if there was pot around. The babies would usually sleep through the party in a carrier.
Back then, no one seemed concerned if the baby was exposed to cigarette smoke, either.
I had my child in 1965, but didn’t take him out anywhere until he was several months old, nor did I leave him with anyone except his grandmother. But, I was odd. I especially remember a period in the early 1970s when suddenly there seemed to be a lot of unmarried women at social events with babies. That really struck me as strange, but no one else seemed to think so.
I was an artist, so these parties were full of musicians, actors, artists, writers. Might have been different from the average milieu. They weren’t frat parties, but potlucks with music and dancing and lots of conversation.

I don't know. Is there anyone who claims that the Baby Obama didn't spend some time in Hawaii.
The issue is whether the good governor saw Baby Obama's mother very pregnant (or even barely pregnant) in Hawaii. I mean he knows them so well, he says.

Other than Abercrapper, no one has ever claimed that they saw Stanley Ann Dunham in HI at any time until several years later (when 0bastard was older), nor her and 0bama Sr together. No one other than Abercrombie has ever claimed to see 0bama Sr and 0bastard’s mother together, other than when 0bama Sr came to HI years later for a few week visit. There is not one scrap of evidence that places Stanley Ann Dunham in HI at any time either before 0bastard’s birth (if it was indeed in Aug. 1961) or for several years afterwards. Not one photo, document, eyewitness, nothing. Except Abercrombie and the ad copy books, nothing at all. Zilch.

What I still find interesting is that we still know next to nothing to the whereabouts of Stanley Ann Dunham from the beginning of 1961 until late August. It is absolutely next to nothing that has come up in over 2 years of looking.
And nothing actually from before the beginning of 1961. I don’t recall any evidence she was ever in HI until at some point she showed up with a few years old 0h0mo (hat tip to melancholy for the nomenclature).
She may not have come with her parents at all. Who knows? Someone must know, but there is no evidence of her in HI (that I’ve seen on FR) from when she was in high school until she shows up in HI with the kid when he’s a few years old. Some evidence of Seattle but no photos, a name “Anna Obama” in a phone book or something? or residence records? and a couple of peoples’ recollections that may or may not be trustworthy, and certainly not verifiable. The university records - did they have the name “Anna 0bama” or was the name slightly different? Now my memory is thinking the name was slightly different, maybe Stanley Ann 0bama?
SAD was attending the University of Hawaii in the fall of 1960 where she met BHO Sr. in a Russian class so the story goes. From the end of the college term in December, it is zip until late August where she shows up at a friends house in Washington state with little BHO in tow. Supposedly they got married in February of 1961, but no one attended and no one knows where the wedding took place. Time mag came up with nada of the marriage but did report the 1964 divorce. That's about it. SAD going to Kenya as a wild child as she was for the time is not out of the possibility, which fills in the missing time frame.

Ah, I had forgotten there were some records of her registering for some classes at the U of HI in the fall of 1960.
I wonder why I remember the name “Anna 0bama” used in Seattle somehow. Oh well. I’m not helping any with my partial and partially incorrect memories.

The Hawaiian Democratic Party has to verify that the Democratic Party’s Candidate for President is eligible. This past 2008 they did not do so for Obama.
Pelosi had to fly to Hawaii and create a document where she verified that Obama was the Democratic candidate.
We never heard a thing from the media, did we?
This information was verified just this past year in 2010.
