“By the way, I find your post to be entirely unethical.”

But you have no problem with PA Engineers post eh. That good ole double standard.

Now stop posting to me if you don’t want me to post to your thread.

(The one listing pro-Apple folks whose names don't appear on the donors list.)

I don't have a problem with his post, because the donors list is readable by anybody on the site...

...says dayglored, whose name appears on the donors list only because (as the Admin Mod pointed out in #80), I requested that it appear, this particular time. In the past I've donated both openly and anonymously. I'm not in a position to donate much, but I do what I can, and I'm proud of my support of FreeRepublic, so I generally ask that my name be included.

In the past, I have sometimes declined to have my name appear.

WHAT OF IT???

Now will you all please drop this ridiculous sub-topic?

Does anyone remember what the thread topic was?

And it has been proved from independent tests that every one of the phones listed, does indeed have attenuation issues when held in certain ways, and their own operation manuals warn about how not to hold them. YOU choose to ignore that proof. There is no lie.

You're lying again, Swordmaker. It's not the signal attenuation that's the issue, it's the detuning of the antenna when you bridge the two together with a single finger. This was objectively PROVEN by Consumer Reports and Anandtech.

And Anandtech proved that the exposed antenna design was responsible for another 10 dB of signal loss. If the antennas were not external and exposed, then the iPhone 4 would be about on par with other phones. But because the antenna is exposed, it's 10 dB WORSE.

Yours is the familiar lie by omission and confusion and you're puffing more of Apple's marketing smoke to try to obscure the facts.

I think it's about Apple giving bumpers out to mask a problem brought about by poor design that they refuse to acknowledge exists...

My apologies. I had not yet seen that you had accepted the agreement, driftdiver.

I think that PA Engineer should not have posted that either.

I agree with you Swordmaker. Its the first time I remember seeing someone do that in the 8 years I’ve been lurking and posting on FR.

Oh, they acknowledged it -- by handing out the bumpers and cases.

"Acknowledgement" comes in many forms, some of which might be considered disguises, but we know better.

I didn't expect Steve Jobs to say it out loud, or to empower any of his minions to say it out loud.

The bumper/case distribution program speaks louder than any carefully worded press release, IMO.

I fully agree. It’s always interesting to see companies deny any problem or issue and then their actions speak 180 degrees from their statements.

Too bad so many of their faithful simply take the words - not the deeds - to heart. Actions should speak louder than words!

It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of September. My money is still on a PE/PTFE based coating over the antennas. Fits with the schedule as well, knowing that a product shipped at the end of September needs to start production in early July.

You are a disrupter and not a poster. You take away other peoples rights to freely discuss between themselves. This is not over.

And it also falls in line with my favorite rumor du jour, that T-MO will get the iPhone. And hey if they wanted to upgrade to support HSDPA+ that is entirely up to them.

Per a previous conversation between us about how prevalent cases were, I did see an iPhone 4 without a case today. Of iPhone 4s I have seen we are now at 50% with a case. Considering the bumpers are free now, or even a case, this does raise the question all over again of how badly this affects people. Surely she is aware of the problem, and the workaround being provided. Why not get a case unless you aren’t experiencing the problem?

I will admit I’m wanting to have my cake and eat it too here. A case doesn’t mean they had a problem as lots of people get them anyway and no case means no problem.

Yep, my thoughts as well. Though for the sake of argument I'd propose an enamel coating, e.g. polyester, polyester-polyimide, or something similar. But I agree that Teflon would also work.

Seems to me they're delaying the white version of the iPhone to retrofit the antenna fix. Granted, I've read there are also issues with the white plastic itself. But they'd be insane not to work the antenna fix into anything they can from here on out.

Nope, no more than any other poster on FR. I started out posting on Apple threads to represent an alternative view but your crowd is unwilling to consider any alternatives.

“This is not over.”

Threats? One message from the mod wasn’t enough for you? Condemnation from your own macbots musta hurt. What you did was “unethical” and showed a complete lack of decency.

Actually I was a lurker for a while but spent most of my time on the 2nd amendment boards on Yahoo. I actually got a login around 2004 and then changed it after taking up scuba diving.

T-MO would benefit from the iPhone a lot more than Verizon - they’re really on the ropes right now in the US market, something like the iPhone could breathe more life into their US operations.

The person I know that has the most problems with his iPhone 4 has them only when he’s at his office (it’s a bit of a black hole, with pretty weak signal strength). At his house, or around the rest of town, he has great signal strength thanks to the multiple cell towers all around. It’s hard to NOT get good signal strength in Woodinville, WA!

Except at his office. He’s in some sort of hole, and even folks with other AT&T products get 2-3 bars only, rather than the customary 4 or 5. When he holds the phone in his hand, he can drop the entire connection. Rather than a bumper, we used a little PSA-backed Teflon tape and insulated the antenna. Works now.
