Locals will tell you they taste like chicken, but you'd have to partake to see if they are telling the truth.
They can be called Mountain Oysters, Cowboy Caviar, Swingin Sirloin or Calf Fries. But no matter how you slice them, they are still bull testicles. And they are the main course tonight in Watsonville.
The Testicle Festival gets under way at Casserly Hall. The piece de' resistance will be served up fresh.
The flier boasts only "USDA inspected" testicles will be served. It also refers to the dish as a true delicacy of the America West, not to mention a promise you will have balls of fun. (No bull.)
It's an all-you-can eat deal. For $40 you can scarf down as many testicles as you care to.
For the weak at heart, chicken, pasta, salad and garlic bread will also be available.
The event is a fundraiser benefiting the Santa Cruz Farm Bureau, the local county fair and Ari Culture.
Sometimes you feel like a nut...
CNN and MSNBC hosts will be there with bells on
Ping
‘Sweet meats’, ‘cowboy caviar’, ‘mountain oysters’,.......
Guess it just depends on what side of the world you live. ;-)
Sometimes you might want to go balls out
ESPECIALLY Chrissy Matthews.
The Rocky Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson, AZ — Sorry for the omission.
Bollocks ping, my little nut case.
Something tells me fewer people eat testicles than tongue, or brains. Is this just some Brokeback Mountain thing for the touring Village People crowd?
Just hope you dont bite into some brass ones.......
Send all GOP members of congress there to get some.
“Everybody’s smilin’
You can’t find a frown...
Big Ball’s in Cowtown
We’ll all go down,
Big Ball’s in Cowtown
We’ll all dance around”
you betcha, considering they were enamoured with the whole teabagging thing. Must go there to practice :)
It would take a lot-o-b*lls to serve me these. I’d go nuts.
They taste like beef steak, not chicken - the tradition comes from castrating all the bull calves during spring roundup and wasting protein was not something cowboys did. If you like porterhouse, dig in!
Sometimes, when I eat gizzards, I wonder.....
