Am I the Only One who is sick and tired of "I'd Hit It"?
VANITY | TODAY | SELF

Posted on 04/20/2007 11:50:28 AM PDT by CharlesWayneCT

I've never posted a straight Vanity before.

But I am sick and tired of this good conservative, generally religious site being overrun by people posting "I'd hit it", whenever a picture of a good-looking girl is displayed.

It's demeaning, it's immoral, and I guess I'm just a prude but announcing to the world that you'd like to have sex with a woman based on her picture, like she was some object, hardly seems like the appropriate attitude on a conservative political site.

But rather than post in response to any particular person, I figured I'd just vent here where everybody could see and make fun of me.

So go ahead. I thank you for whatever indulgence you have given me in this rant.

Back to your regularly scheduled oggling and hitting.

What the hell is “tactical bacon?”

A lotta places around the world, you don't have to worry about having the locals steal your food supplies.

I’d just feed it to my dog; a step up we have on the Ishmaelites.

My dog would probably eat it. She’ll climb up on the counter to get a dish of chickpeas!

We got a nice card from the vet’s office, saying how sorry they were about Wednesday. Dr. Kaylor was so kind, saying he’d taken it as a professional failure, not being able to keep a pet from self-destructing, as it were.

How’s your bite, Nina? Mine is still a little red and hot, but the swelling is down and it doesn’t hurt to touch it.

Francis Bacon teaches typing?

"Francis Bacon teaches typing?"

That's Mavis Beacon, if you please.

There was a game called Word Invaders or something that made typing into a space invaders game. Very effective at building speed and familiarity.

We have a similar learn-to-tpye program. I should get DP to make it work so the girls can learn. Tom needs practice, too; he’s very slow. Anoreth got over 100 wpm.

Actually, I have a can of this stuff. Haven’t tried it yet, but I hear it’s actually pretty good.

Almost healed up, but I got on it right away - my MD bro called me the same day it happened and told me if it was not better in the morning, go to my own doctor that very day for antibiotics. If my regular doctor had not been on vacation, he probably would have just called it in, but I’d never seen the other guy in the practice so I had to physically show up which put me 12 hours behind starting the Augmentin.

It’s nice that vets send those cards - I have far too many of them.

Dogs are cleaner. You should feed yourself to dogs.

Oh, wait! Frank has first call, doesn't he?

"LONG day after LONG trip home."

Home

I’ve never been far South enough to stand,
Where shadows melt in puddles ‘stead of roamin’.
Even when the Sun had journeyed Northward,
Its noontime high still made of me a gnomon.

Not much of a worldwide traveler am I,
I’ve only traipsed around one continent.
Not that I haven’t had the wanderlust,
I think it’s safe to blame time management.

Too often I found places, that felt like home to me.
Where hearts could put down roots,
And in the sun, and wind, and rain,
My branches sent out shoots.

So I grew quite attached to them,
And stayed around a while.
And that’s why many a year went by,
While I journeyed not a mile.

I do not worry about it,
My travels come to me.
I get a lot of mileage from,
The spinning skies I see.

Turtles and snails have their homes with them,
Whether moving or lying still.
I have my home resting on my back,
As I lie on a grassy hill.

Good enough -- you, sir, are fortunate!

I don't have the wanderlust; I'm forced into it by where my employment has led me and by maximizing my position therein. Yesterday I learned that the company is considering a new aspect of my job -- one we had discussed before -- and is about ready to move forward once we finalize details; if it goes and succeeds, I could wind up with a whole lot more more travel than I have now. I am not sure this is a good thing. Other than the job security it entails.

OTOH, I'll get to see firsthand places I've only dreamed of as being future homes (there aren't many, but some would surprise y'all).

And other things too. LoM will come to Strasbourg (France) with me in September. And possibly to Madrid (Spain) in March, something that was raised in an e-mail today. For me both are corporate business travel, but might as well burn my frequent-flyer miles for her ticket while they are still worth something.

And some day I will be able to put down roots again, just enjoy being where I am, and let that be the end of it. I've been away too long...
