I give Idol credit for showing this, not just New Orleans. And not just the inner cities, too. That's something that drives me nuts living on the East coast - lots of folks can't conceive that the cities *don't* have a monopoly on poverty and despair.

I almost think this telethon night will backfire. Oh, not with Idol...they’ll applaud themselves and toot their horn over how successful it was. But Jane, John and the Doe kids are sitting home thinking...gee, we didn’t ask for this. We give in our church and school. America takes care of the world...just let us have our fun show!
