I almost think this telethon night will backfire. Oh, not with Idol...they’ll applaud themselves and toot their horn over how successful it was. But Jane, John and the Doe kids are sitting home thinking...gee, we didn’t ask for this. We give in our church and school. America takes care of the world...just let us have our fun show!

I don’t know. As I just posted, this show is showing a more realistic picture of poverty in America than we usually see. Maybe it will connect to people, and maybe not. But I give them credit for trying.
