I guess so. Also, when the judges (esp. Simon) get too critical they get sympathy votes. Perhaps it's part of the strategery to keep it interesting.

So far...
Haley Scar-ta-ta's....that was HER best so far. That's not saying much. She sang OK and looked great in the short-shorts.
Chris "Timber-lame" - Judges who are being blackmailed by Chris loved it. I thought it was boring and whiny.
