I can’t say I agree with your analysis either. My analysis however, is impeccable. Melinda wasn’t “flashy enough”????HUH??? The way she came across to me, she was the flashiest from DAY ONE. She is certainly the most experienced, accomplished, and she moved around on the stage like she owned it. In that she was WAY ahead of the competition. She didn’t “bounce around her boobs”like Lakisha? That’s because she doesn’t have any boobs to speak of. When you have boobs like Lakisha, you have NO CHOICE but to let them bounce around-—either that or wear some kind of Ultra-Bra, which would be very distracting for the audience. And not compromising Christian beliefs????That trait belongs to Jordin, who is every bit the Christian, by experience and committment , as Melinda is. Jordin will win, and my analysis stands as the most insightful ever offered in the annals of human thought. Although I admit the great philosophers have never weighed in on American Idol.

I suppose I should clarify my “Chris Daughtry was the better singer” comment. First off, I was a Taylor fan. I thought he was the whole package and deserved to win.

But Chris was considered the favorite and I though he was a good singer. Maybe “better singer” was overstating. Elliot was actually the best singer last season. I just thought his getting voted off early was a good comparison as an “Idol Upset.”

BTW...I’m with you 100% on Jordin vs Blake. Blake is just an average male singer and as you pointed out has no power in his range.

It must be the power of argyle.

Yes, the sarcasm is implied/ Spinoza , Descartes, Schopenhauer AND I have agreed never to use those stupid
“emoticon” thingies.”Hee,hee, hee”, as Schopenhauer would say.

Well, I think he’s gearing up for another summer tour.

I thought the last CD could have been better - it contained some songs that I don’t especially care for, and I thought the pace was a little slow. But I’ve seen a couple of Christmas concerts, and the one tour with Kelly Clarkson, and that was really enjoyable. I’ll bet this upcoming one, which won’t be near me, should be a good show.

Melinda probably has the best voice of any contestant in the history of the show,

I will buy a CD if she makes one. Only singing counts when listening on a CD. I wouldn't even listen to one made by either of the finalists, much less buy one.

Only singing counts when listening on a CD.

That's true for folks like us. But for the many millions of people (mostly teenyboppers) that voted for talentless hacks like Blake or Sanjaya, image is everything. Literally, everything.

Are you serious?

Think about it for a moment.

What kind of audience...[read crying and screaming Ashleys] would Melinda and Jordin draw? Zero. And according to the bar graphs I just saw for the past two weeks Blake has garnered the most votes overall with Jordin a steady bridesmaid.

I have a feeling Blake is going to blow Jordin away.

I hope he does something from Journey...his voice fits that sound IMO.

It's my understanding that Melinda is a professional backup singer and does LasVegas.

Therefore, she is a showgirl in a sense that she is a professional performer.

As soon as the music stops however, she is handicapped by her lack of cuteness and apparent shyness...(trying to be kinder there).

Her going home video was a tragedy...by comparison.

It all screamed that she's an Edsel.

Actually I hope Jordin wins, for a number of reasons I absolutely can't stand Blake. I scream in agony everytime he breaks out into that inane beatbox cr*p.

Who wins will be determined by several things: How each performs next week, obviously by the number votes each gets, how the judges, (particularily Simon) try to set up each contestant, and wether or not Jordin's voters, which I suspect, are the other than Ashley Ferls of the world, get out and vote. I believe that Blake has the Ashley vote, and apparently from what we have been seeing, (ala Suckjaya), that group votes often and in large numbers. Thus my sense, that Blake will win this competition.

That being said, I still believe that not only Jordin, but Melinda and probably Gina in the long run will have better cd sales than Blake. Blake does not have a strong voice, what he has now is a gimmick going, a gimmick that will wear out with time.

I do not understand why Simon has taken it on as a mission to trash Jordin, unless in some sort of reverse psychology way he is trying to get a sympathy vote for her. And that trick may work and help Jordin win. You and God keep your money, I do not take the bet.

“it must be “the power of argyle”>
——I think “The Power of the Argyle” would make a smashing title for Blake’s first CD.I would shop it around to all major producers and labels, and ask for a finder’s fee.

The Ashley votes are what got Kat McPhee as far as she did last year. She should have lost on the week that Daughtry went home.

Jordin by virtue of the fact that she is 17 will score up kiddie votes.

Jordin wasn’t that good on Tuesday night. He ballad song is old fashioned and Simon wants someone who is hot and today.

He has been a big supporter of her for weeks. Don’t read too much into the reverse psychology of this.

So he would can her on the basis of one performance and song choice? It would appear to me that she has great marketability and potential to sing all genres of songs.

But Blake has gotten more votes the past two weeks. My hunch is he will win.

OTOH, Melinda's voters are going to go more to Jordin than to Blake, don't you agree?

I thought Jordin’s “vocals” were great.

Don’t forget, it was Simon who picked “Over the Rainbow,” a song a lot “older” than what Jordin’ sang, for Katharine McPhee.

A Jordin/Melinda final would have been much better.

Blake is basically a gimmick. His vocals are “just OK” as Randy would say and that be-box crap gets a bit redundant after a while.

Besides, we’ve already had one “Simon Le Bon.” (From the 80’s group, Durbland, Durbland) We don’t need another cheap copy.

You would think that Lakisha’s votes would have gone to Melinda but I guess not. The Melinda votes could move to Jordin but then again, some people just drop out and stop voting.
