We didn’t even get a chance to connect with many of the contestants from the auditions & the Hollywood phase.

And the ones we did connect with they cut!

"Remember Kimberly Locke who was eliminated at the third spot? I thought she was terrific - I see she’s subbing on the View."

Well I will have to tune into the View if my TV won't reject the show. lol

I was a fan of Kimberly when she was on idol and was pleased to see her doing ads for Lane Bryant. I did some local VERY minor plus sized modeling in the 80's and even at that level made some good money. Being on The View can't hurt unless she pulls a Rosie (which I seriously doubt).

I have to agree with him on that. I was sick of the Hildebeast & Silky Pony years ago so those two are almost unbearable. Actually I can’t think of a candidate that is running that I’m not already tired of hearing about. And the election is still what..year & a half away?

I’ll look for that interview. Thanks.

Wow. I'm 49 and spent two hours voting for Blake.

To each his own, that beat box stuff makes me want to hurl.

People who watch and vote on American Idol are flattered into believing they themselves are creating stardom for somebody.

Great point, although I might quibble on the size or number of Idol watchers who fit in that category.

Exactly. And Matt the country singer. Tammy the cab driver who had a very Janis Joplin thing happening. Bailey blond country singer. Those are just the ones off the top of my head, I’m sure others could name dozens more who stood out and were not picked.

The AI people have no one to blame for this season but themselves. I watch E News while getting ready for work. One day they stuck in there that Pop Idol, the UK show the AI is based on, was canceled in favor of X Factor. On X Factor the judges make the decision about who goes- no audience voting at all.

I guess Simon- and the other producers- said that the voters were not voting for the most talented people, so they weren’t going to let them decide any more. That’s a nice way of saying, “We don’t like the people the voters picked to win.” I can’t imagine that would fly in the US.

I know that these days its easy to make your own CD but I was googling Melinda and saw that she cut a CD several years ago. I wish AI would put some limitations on this show to keep it a true amateur competition. Melinda, Taylor, Blake and others are basically semi-professionals.

So's Jordin.

I'm pulling for Jordin now. Tho I will admit that Blake's beatbox thing is kinda cool to me when it's not overdone.

I hate to say it, but it would appear that Blake will win. I would surmise that he has inherited the Ashleys of this world, who no doubt think he is the dreamiest thing on two feet. Jordin will be relegated to second place and probably like last year's winner her cds will, in the longrun, outsell Blake.

I can not feature Blake having the longevity of a career that Jordin will have. But then again who knows?

Rachel the Opera Singer!

I was really rooting for her. I wanted to see how she would deal with the themes.

Matt Buckstein had such a Trace Adkins type of appeal. He would have been a lot of fun on the show. I remember Tammy & Bailey well. Both had better voices than anyone they put through. There are a lot of complaints this season & ratings are down. AI brought it on themselves. Much more of this & there won’t be an AI. How will they “give back” then?

What really makes me nuts is that the male talent was so lacking this year. This really is a year for the women to win and IMHO we should have had a diva top three!

Yes I do think Blake is talented, but the top prize should not be going to Jordin, she needs some more experience. The way it stands now, we’ve turned the finals into a beauty contest. (sorry Simon)

I was reading on another site that the age difference (12 yrs.) probably played a role here, and younger women tend to do better. The oldest female finalist to date was Katherine McPhee at the ripe old age of 22 years old.

And Katherine McPhee, and Chris Daughtry, and Chris Sligh... and Fantasia Barrino, and Diana DeGarmo...

"Bailey blond country singer."

She had her fair shake in Hollywood, she just couldn't remember the words to any of the songs. No way Simon, et al could let her through after they preached and preached on the topic.

ITA. They need to go back to whatever they did in season 5. Any of the top 5 or 6 from last season would have won this season. But would they even have made it past Hollywood?? I can’t imagine that Taylor or Elliot and possibly even Bucky would have made it past the Hollywood round this year.

They really went with style over substance this year and people are PO’d. The ratings show it.

This competition will be settled by the middle schoolers and pre-teens. I think Blake has the edge with that crowd. Jordin appeals to old fogeys like me. I don't vote

boy, isn't that the truth. i consistently told my middle school daughter that blake had ZERO chance of making it into even the final two, let alone winning it all. i had not considered that there are millions of little teenyboppers like her out there texting their heads off. i was sure melinda would be THE American Idol and Jordin second.

Fantasia Burrito had a CD out prior to going on idol? Woah, I didn’t know that.

Very true. Hopefully she tries again next season after taking some ginko biloba or Focus Factor or something. ;-)
