LOL.I think they've seen performers do it when they're recording. I was holding both of mine on this one. The song was unrecognizable. It was bad. Real bad.
Ok, so I wonder if someboby will pick him up, and give him a chance to see if he can make a record?
Interesting.
Sorry I missed you last night. I must have logged out just a few minutes before you posted :-/
Reba and Kelly are doing a Crossroads concert before an invitation-only audience on Feb. 22. It will be broadcast in the 4th quarter of '07 to coincide with the debut of Reba's next album. One of the tracks is a duet by Reba and Kelly.
I'll be looking forward to that :) Reba and Kelly are a great combination.
Kelly was one of the invited performers at a recent Reba concert/tribute on one of the Country channels--she sounded great, even better than some of the bona fide Country artists.
He could do duets with Frenchie.
So did I. She ended up dissing her hometown. Blamed them for her problems. Called her neighborhood (which is a nice working class neighborhood) the GHETTO. The local news where she's from won't even mention her name anymore. The last time I heard the name "Fantasia" it involved a Disney movie. Don't think she's had the sparkling career she was expecting. Serves her right.
Pegasus News tried to get an answer from American Idol, but an American Idol representative told them that the show would not ever be giving a reason for Akrons elimination from the competition.
That's supposed to help them hear themselves to know if they're hitting the right notes...or in her case to help her look cool, because she clearly can't hear herself! ;-)
Hmmm.
Either Idol has adopted a "zero tolerance" policy or there's something else going on ...
That was during the audition of the girl they called back. What was so funny is while he was doing that he was complaining about the girl doing weird things. I almost fell of the couch laughing.
Can't stand her! Finding out that she couldn't read explained why she screamed and and yelled "oh yeah" so much instead of the actual words to the songs. She never should have won. She did well on Summertime but you can only yell and scream "oh yeah" sop many times before the rest of the songs started sounding the same.
Love that show. Couldn't pull myself away from the TV last night.
How are you doing?
Maybe it was scarier in person! I thought she was simply expressive, and had beautiful eyes. And I remember ol' Paris (who they all thought was a gift from God) making some pretty funny faces, but they never said boo about that, did they?
Nope. It was like they were afraid to criticize Paris--Randy in particular.
I wasn't paying close attention the first time Ashley/Ashton sang, so I missed whatever facial contortions the judges saw. But during her second performance, I noticed she was trying to keep her face neutral. That was kinda odd.
But I'm glad she got a second chance--she has a better voice than some they voted through. And what a smile!
UPDATED: DFW native booted from American Idol days before Hollywood round
http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2007/jan/31/dfw-native-gets-kicked-iamerican-idoli-days-hollyw/
snip
In the weeks after the crew came out to interview Akron, he received numerous e-mails from producers at American Idol with information regarding his trip to Hollywood for the next round of auditions. Naturally, Akron grew more and more excited by the opportunity to become the next American Idol as the Hollywood round neared. But then, less than a week before he was supposed to get on a plane headed for Los Angeles, Akron received a disturbing phone call from a representative of the show.
I was supposed to leave that Monday, they called me on a Thursday, explains Akron. They said were not gonna let you go. And I asked why? And he said Well Im not really sure
and then he gave me some alternatives for what I should say to people if they asked why I was kicked off
He told me to tell people that I was now an alternate ... That would protect [me] and protect the show.
One might guess that the pot bust would be the reason for Akron not making the show, but others have made it all the way to the finals with felony arrests. Besides, he told Idol all about his past when they sent a crew to interview him, so they obviously knew about that already.
Yesterday, I spoke twice with American Idol PR representative Alex Gillespie to see if the show had any official explanation for why Akron was not allowed to tryout in Hollywood. When I first talked to Gillespie, she told me that she would find out exactly what happened for me. Then when I spoke with her later in the day, she apologized and told me that the show would not ever be giving a reason for Akrons elimination from the competition.
As the Fox networks air-date for the American Idol San Antonio search nears, Akron Watson has no clue whether they will even show his audition on television. His dream has been taken from him. Worst of all, he still doesnt know why and maybe never will.
Isn't House just dreamy???
Hmmmm Maybe you are onto something with your 'zero tolerance' comment.
American Idol Rumor Suggests Contestant Disqualified For Refusing To Cut His Hair
http://www.realitytvmagazine.com/blog/2007/02/american_idol_r.html
There is a very interesting rumor buzzing around the Internet about an American Idol 6 contestant possible getting disqualified for refusing to cut his hair. Granted this isnt as shocking as say Courtney Love or somebody replacing Paula Abdul on the judging panel, but as American Idol rumors go it is one of the more unusual ones to surface. The contestant in question is Fidel Castro look-a-like Sean Michel who wowed the judges at the Memphis auditions with a killer performance of Johnny Cashs Gods Gonna Cut You Down.
This particular rumor is even being discussed on the official American Idol message boards. The rumor suggests that in the Hollywood rounds that American Idol judges/producers demanded that Sean Michel cut his long hair and shave his beard if he wanted to progress in the competition. Reminiscent of the biblical Samson, Sean Michel is rumored to have refused to cut his hair (maybe out of fear that it was the source of his great musical talent) and as a consequence he was disqualified from the competition.
Reality TV Magazine contacted Sean Michel to see if we could get to the bottom of this rumor. Because of his confidentiality agreement with the show, Sean couldnt talk about upcoming episodes of the show or address rumors concerning them. However, Sean did confirm to Reality TV Magazine that he still has his beard and long hair and has not cut them at all.
Sean Michels confirmation that he still has his beard and long hair certainly leaves the door open that there could be some validity to the rumor. But would American Idol producers who have allowed contestants to continue with criminal records in their background eliminate someone for something as simple as refusing to cut their hair?
All sorts of rumors surfaced last year that Taylor Hicks was being pressured to dye his famous gray hair, but he was never cut from the competition. Then again, a certain Mr. Simon Cowell hasnt been shy about making his feelings known about what he thought about Taylor Hicks winning. Maybe, judges/producers implemented some official Idol hair guidelines this year.
Very strange.
Have you heard him speak in his regular voice? It stunned me. I didn't know he was from British. LOL.
Love the way he closed the car door. Brilliant!
Very strange indeed. It will be interesting to see of more information gets out.
Yes she had a unique sound, but the advice being offered was good. She should look at herself in the mirror when she sings. When Simon mentioned some bad habits, I wonder if he thought she was too nasal...it would be nice to know what he saw that he hopes she could fix before Hollywood.
The singer that came to mind for me was Anita Baker.
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
