The show is rigged it looks like the game show 64 thousand $ question or [going way back]Queen for a day.
I would be very interested to know the name of this cult...PM me if ya want. Thanks.
Not from what I've been able to find, but, I suppose there's still time for him to jump on the bandwagon.
She has a song called 'I'm Coming Out', maybe he could do that one!
I agree, he doesn't seem 'uncomfortable' to me. It might just be not knowing what Ryan's going to do or try to pull.
I think some people enter more to be seen & hopefully have something good come out of it. Not necessarily to actually win. If that makes sense.
That makes lots of sense. That is why some drop out ofer getting some exposure. They've probably heard of the contracts and wish to avoid to many restrictions.
I think that may be the case with Sligh. I don't really see arrogance with him but just a confidence that he knows what he's doing, knows what works for him. Real musicians are like that. God love them.
Again, I agree. It could be his 'plan' is to get exposure. He may ne even 'want' to win necessarily. I think its those that have no plan that get lost in the shuffle. Melinda has a plan, she brought two people with her. Stylists? Stephanie, too. Some study the previous seasons to see what works and what doesn't. That's called 'planning'. I see nothing wrong with that.
I think this is why Sabrina went home. Poor song chpices, especially the last one. If they want the viewers behind them, then they need to perform songs that people know. This is something Chris S neeeds to be careful of. He said in that interview that he wants to do one of his own songs later in the show. That could hurt him really bad. He should rethink this, imo.
_ Melinda can do some contemporary stuff. It's obvious she likes standards, but that music skews to a much older audience than most of the people who do the AI voting.
Good point. Its easy to forget the age of the songs she sings because she does them so well, but, will they connect with the younger crowd. She needs to do something recent and apply the same conviction that she does to the older songs.
_ LaKisha can break out of her black church choir/black urban music comfort zone and do something more truly pop or pop/rock.
Yes, this is the big concern I have too. I'm beginning to think that she should have saved 'And I'm Not Going' for later in the competition, but I'm hoping she will surprise (us in a good way!) She needs to step her game up a little. The judges like her, but they are stripping over themselves to laud Melinda. Melinda is good, but, they both have things to work on. imo (song selection, song selection, song selection)
_ Blake can do anything else except white hip-hop.
I have the feeling the answer is no. Based on his interview, he may no be willing to change that, either.
_ Chris Sligh can do anything else except faux soul ballads.
He has a nice voice, though, I'd like to be more familiar with his song choices.
_ The other black divas can separate themselves from the two front runners. Jordin has the best shot at this, but she's very young and inexperienced.
I'm not sure it really matters. I think the judges have pretty much chosen Melinda. Which reminds me, there was something else from that interview -- But which musical heavyweight does Simon most wish would be Idol-ized? ''Well, we'll just make it really difficult for the bad singers,'' he grins. ''We'll do Pavarotti night, and they'll have to deal with that.''
They can persistently chose themes aimed at getting rid of certain people. They act like they have no control and its all in the hand of the views, uh huh, sure it is. I'd like to see them do an opera week, since he mentioned it.
Hey, can you imagine a hip-hop opera? :)
_ Chris R. builds a statue to himself and brings it on stage one night.
They've been showing a clip of him from this past wek on tv guide channel and each time it creeps me out more than the last. Think I'd like to see him go, right after stinkgaya and Stacey. _ Gina can find a way to stand out as a female pop/rocker.
She doesn't strike me as being that good.
_ The Navy guy really is NOSFERATU.
As usual you put your finger on the heart of the matter for each one of them.
Could be worse, Taylor's been living it, and because he won.
This is the first time that I've been seriously annoyed with Simon.
Join the club, I think he's ticked us all off at one point or another.
I remember last year that Simon made a comment about wanting to be a judge on that invention show, but he couldn't because of his contract with AI. I sometimes wonder if he'd like to leave AI so he can do other things.
If the show was rigged Taylor would never have won.
Wasn't it Bo who went a cappella and it was a big hit?
Who? ;)
Yes, I just wasn't sure if the song she wanted to do, was a good pic for that. I didn't care for Bo's song choice, so it didn't wow me. Then again, I liked Carrie better anyway.
Chuck Sligh, a talented guitar player and singer who passed on his love of music to his sons, is now pastor at the Grace Baptist Church just outside Grafenwöhrs Gate 1, and works as a field representative at Central Texas College on-post at Vilseck.
Independent Bible Baptist Church (not a part of the Southern Baptist Church)
Here's a page about Chris's father, Chuck S;ligh:

Calling it a cult is my opinion only. Or maybe tit-for-tat, since the IBB's call my Catholic Church a "cult".
Here's all you ever wanted to know about Chris Sligh and his family, from the perspective of an Independent Bible Baptist site:

Poor Chris! This is what he has to contend with from members of his own church.
Talk about "friendly fire".
In pursuing this further, I find that Chris Slgh is a "recovering fundie".

Chris expresses some deep thoughts here in rebuttal to his critics. It's worth a read.
I'm glad I read further, because now I understand more about Chris and his goals in life. He wants to serve God through music. A very fine purpose in life.
Now Chris goes to the top of my Idol list.
Huh...wasn't there a FReeper called Full Court who ended up getting banned? From some of the stuff being said there, I think it's the same person. Verrry interesting.
Hmmmm...very interesting indeed. Thanks for the heads-up, Rosie.
In 1982, the Slighs surrendered to go into missions to minister with American military personnel overseas.
I know something about their ilk: if they were being honest the page would read
the Slighs surrendered to go into missions to minister undermine, belittle, and attack the duly sworn and appointed Chaplains with American military personnel overseas.
May God deliver us from the leaven of such Pharisees!
I found it very curious that both Chuck Sligh and his father were in the same type of ministry, setting up camp right outside a military base. That does seem to be like poking a stick in the eye of the regular chaplains.
To each his own, I suppose, but I am always suspicious of any religion that builds itself up by tearing other faiths down.
I guess that's enough about Chris Sligh's former religion.
If I keep this up, the mod will kick us out of the Smoky Back Room and send us to the Religion Forum. Yikes!!!
One of my wife's Uncles is involved in such a "ministry". Very self-righteous; no one else has the real truth as he defines it, and of course he really has no fellowship with any other clergy.
He was kicked out of the Army because he despised his Chaplain superior, who was Catholic.
And of course he has little regard for yours truly, a Lutheran Pastor. I'm sure he thinks I'm going to Hell and leading others along.
I truly feel sorry for him, and for Chris's folks, and others like them whose only joy in life...if you can call it that...comes from putting others down.
Hey, did you notice that there is NOTHING on Chris's MySpace blogs? Were there any entries before? I was wondering if, once he made the top 12, AI powers-that-be made all the contestants delete blog entries and who knows what else.
