What keeps McCellan from taking off his shoe and throwing it at these people?! I'd last a nanosecond in that job. They keep badgering him about the EXACT time of everything. They're pissing over a few hours!
Why not let the Press do their own work, number one. Secondly, what would you consider timely notification? Perhaps before the Doctor's were called? That appears to be the only timeframe the Reporters would accept.
Once again, I AM NOT APOLOGIZING, NOR DO I PRETEND TO APOLOGIZE for Vice President Cheney, to Vice President Cheney, to the Press, to my fellow freepers or most especially, to you. No apologies are necessary, nor is castigation of the Vice President necessary for either the fact that he had an accident or that he did not comply with your timeframe for reporting. I don't believe he needs to take any "lumps" for his behaviour, nor do I participate in knee jerk reactions. My opinion (if I am allowed to have one) is that in the great scheme of the Republican election strategy apologizing for our real or perceived wrongdoing is not a major component of victory. Enough said?
My gawd, the Vice President of the United States accidentally shooting someone is not newsworthy?
And another person says getting hit with birdshoot is not a shooting.
FR has entered the Twilight Zone on this one.
***
David Gregory is an out of control weasel!
I'm being perfectly calm. You're the one resorting to personal attacks against me for pointing out that this story is getting out of hand on FR.
The way the media spins this type of story, they will have Cheney shooting an imigrant girl who was crossing the border for cancer treatments and Cheney shot her and her dog, she had for 15 years, who was coming across the border in order to carry her meds...............
You obviously know very little about hunting and the ammo used for it.
I'm not sure about that - it was common sense "gun shot wound" and a quick Google search found plenty of medical texts duscussing "birdshot" as GSW:
"Birdshot at a Moderate Distance
a 12-guage shotgun loaded with no. 6 Birdshot has a muzzle velocity of 1,300 ft/sec.
When fired from a distance of 12 feet, the shot will penetrate a 4-in-thick telephone book, producing a hole with a 2.4-in. diameter and releasing more than 2,000 ft-lb of energy
An M-16 Rifle has a Muzzle Energy of 1,250 ft-lb
The Shotgun delivers much greater energy to a target at close range than does the M-16"

It isn't newsworthy to the extent it is being reported.
Would it be newsworthy had you pulled the trigger? If not, why is it when the VP pulled the trigger? It was a freakin' accident.
Don't play into the moonbats hands on this one.
Please tell me this did not actually happen!
I turned it off after Monkey-boy Gregory got so worked up.
Gregory's arrogance reminds me of Hussein's actions before the Iraqi court.
That's what the problem is, you know; they weren't THERE to get the bloody pictures and spin the news.
I was dove hunting with a .410 when I was ten years old.
Same size shot as was involved here.
And if I had hit someone squarely enough with the shot to penetrate skin and send them to the hospital, I doubt my dad would have called it anything other than shooting them.
Do you REALLY need to ask that one?
When David would pointedly say. . .as did the others. . .that Cheney SHOT a man!!!. . .and ad nauseum references. . .'He shoots a MAN and is NOT reported immediately?" .
Scott's responses appeared weak and insufficient; BECAUSE the truth of the matter was never articulated.
>May sound like 'hair-splitting; but a rabid media parsing words, requires the absolute proper framing and context here. . ./I>
That said, NO fricking crime was committed; how they wish. . .but they are determined to make it sound like a bigger scandal than Vince Foster (oh. . .that's right. . .they did not make his death a scandal. . .were not even curioius about Ron Brown. . .) No feeding frenzy there. . .
And the media will continue their frenzy; unless the WH gets a grip on this Cheney's hunting accident vs his 'shooting' of a MAN; while hunting.
And Fox News, better a grip as well. . .they have been having way too much fun on this one. . .disgusting for the most part.
On my word.
It sure did.
If Cheney can hang on at least until January 20, 2007 - that would ensure whomever was selected to replace him could run 2 full terms after that.
Bob Cesca: EXCLUSIVE: First Photo of Cheney Shooting Victim
Bob CescaSun Feb 12, 9:59 PM ET
The above photo shows Vice President Dick Cheney speaking to reporters at the bedside of the man who he "accidentally" shot this weekend while on a hunting trip in Texas (full story).
A spokesman for the vice president identified the shooting victim as Harry Whittington, but sources close to the incident suggest "Harry Whittington" is a Secret Service code name for Cheney's indicted former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.
"Honestly, I didn't mean to shoot Scoot-- I mean, Harry Whittington," the vice president told reporters in "Mr. Whittington's" hospital recovery room.
The shooting occurred several days after it was revealed that Mr. Libby told special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald he was ordered by Vice President Cheney to leak classified national security documents to the press. The revelation could cost Cheney his job and whatever remains of his reputation amongst both Democrats and Republicans.
An EMT who attended to "Mr. Whittington" told the Huffington Post that, during the ambulance ride, he overheard Cheney mumbling, "Who's leaking now, f***ker?" and, "F***ker survived. Gotta work on my aim."
The EMT later remarked to the vice president, "Harry Whittington? That sounds like a made-up name." When contacted for clarification on Cheney's reply, the Huffington Post has learned the emergency worker has disappeared.

I heard that the injured guy has actual physical welts from the shot.
