Fox News alert a few minutes ago says the Dover School Board lost their bid to have Intelligent Design introduced into high school biology classes. The federal judge ruled that their case was based on the premise that Darwin's Theory of Evolution was incompatible with religion, and that this premise is false.

Legislating from the Bench.

Exactly what I thought. Aren't the people of Dover, PA smart enough to figure this issue out??

I think they are. Since when does a judge have the right to decide curriculum?? This is wrong.

Humans are not monkeys. We neither share nor have anything in common with them.

Nothing?

Then why is our DNA more than 97% identical to a chimp's?

Stalin loved it and implemented Darwin's ideology into his plans... so did hitler. Marx thought the world of Darwin. And your standard atheist secularists here thinks he is God.

This is what you get when you take the Lord Jesus out of the equation: madness.

>The Bible says that we were created in His image. I hope that you are not implying that God looks like pond scum!

The Bible was written by MEN, not God.

Personally, I think God looks a little like George Burns.

You can kid yourself, but your tag-line gives away your priorities. You DO care what others think, and your tag-line is an open invitation to discuss it, the most important thing in your life is a non belief. It's sad.

Please pardon the interruption of your pointless browbeating of MineralMan's beliefs, but it is an open forum after all. What I find sad is your attempt to assess the entire value of MM's life and beliefs based upon a tagline (one which, frankly, I read as a snarky jab at the self-righteous religious types who haunt the crevo threads...that's right, I'm lookin' at you Protagoras). Give it a rest already.

If you are going to mention dating, please pick from the following.

My post of that handsome young lad included the original source, and that has all of the footnotes. You should check them out for more information on the dating method used.

I am not sure why are you asking me to pick one method of radiometric dating from that long list you posted.

OK, I'll bite. I am partial to carbon 14 dating.

Yes, they kicked out of office every ID proponent in the last election.

Oh, my goodness. You have no idea, do you? You are so much like a chimp or a gorilla that it's almost impossible to describe a real difference.

Ah, but gorillas and chimps are not monkeys, so his point stands!

Interesting link on the Darwin/Marx letter issue.

Especially the part Darwin ... argued that science should not address religious matters directly (Colp 1982; Carter 2000).

When dealing with antievolutionist claims regarding Darwin it's typically safe to assume that they are lying and start from there.

Cynicism, thy name is Dimensio! Tho I fear ye may be right, sirrah.

Humans are not monkeys. We neither share nor have anything in common with them.

Not quite true. We share a number of endogenous retroviruses in our DNA with them. In fact we share the number and position of retroviruses with them and other primate species cousins that the theory of evolution predicts. This could not have been anticipated in advance, except by using the theory of evolution.

tested hypotheses

So how does one go about testing evolution?

Without valid testing it remains a theory and all theories require some element of belief. I fully admit that I.D. is a theory, no more testable than evolution.

And as I've said I'm not really defending I.D. I'm asking by what right does a federal court require the teaching of one theory over another?

Stalin banned the teaching of Darwinism and had Darwinian biologists sent to the gulag. But you don't mind lying, do you?

Well they did vote out the old school board. If you'll recall, Pat Robertson threw a fit over it. Apparently he didn't think that the people of Dover, PA were smart enough to figure it out.

"Stalin loved it and implemented Darwin's ideology into his plans..."

He loved it so much he had anybody promoting natural selection killed.

"so did hitler."

Hitler was a creationist.

The government (at all levels) should not be involved in the education business. All schools should be private businesses, from K-12 to college to post grad. This would reduce taxes, improve the quality of education, and give parents and students complete freedom to chose schools. Government subsidies, regulations, bureaucracies, and control over education should be completely eliminated.

So the judge thinks that evolution is "correct" and intelligent design is "wrong". The judge apparently thinks he's God. Evolution seems to make sense, but I allow the possibility that we were designed by some kind of superior being. Nobody on earth knows the answer, certainly not the PA judge, or the guvment.

Yeah , we love to cut people's heads off and turn our women and children into suicide bombers......The judge is a total idiot. I believe all that Dover wanted to do was simply point out there are various views and refer the kids to some books on intelligent design in the library. But this idiot judge and all evolutionists are too scared to even have that tiny amount of competition. It does'nt matter as most Americans, even having been fully indoctrinated into evolutionary garbage, still don't believe it.
