Looks like my Mississippians took it the hardest down on the coast. I've got several friends that live just off the beach across highway 90. They all are up here around Jackson. They're safe.

I'm in Canton today running a friend of mine's drug store. We're stayin' with Mama. It was good to get up to a hot breakfast this morning. Mama says my fiest dog, Punkin', is scaring her cats. Looks like I'm going to have to board her.

We don't have power, phones, and water is becoming questionable at the homestead so it looks like the fam will have to camp up here for awhile.

Pray for the people on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Pray for those poor souls in the New Orleans area. I hear some may be stuck in their attics.

I agree that her fate was pre-determined when she left C&C's. But I still think it is possible that the 3 stooges could have 'handed her off' by virtue of leaving her on that beach for someone to pick up up. I don't think whoever would have picked her up did it by happenstance. I think it could have been planned that way. If the gardener was telling the truth, those guys could have been sitting in the car waiting for their payment after the pick up was complete.

If so, who picked her up?

An aside, if any of your local gas stations have bags over their regular and semi-premium gas tanks, make a report to the AG's office. I just talked with a guy in the AG's office out here at the drug store and he said that is the type of gouging they are seeing the most.

Well that's pretty d@mn crappy! Some people never cease to amaze me. Taking advantage of people during tough times is really sad. Hey...wonder of Haley considers that looting? If so, those people are to be treated in a ruthless manner...according to Haley.

I'll keep an eye out for that kind of thing going on up here. There are tons of people up here staying in all the hotels around here and in Memphis. Thanks for the heads up.

Well...your statement is what is being said around the internet. First, the only principal party involved that has said anything to this effect is Mama Kalpoe during her Greta interview. It was also circulated in a 'supposed' email from Deepak. The MB kids, as far as I know, never 'begged' her to get out of the car. In fact, most of them have said they did not see her get into the car.

Also, you don't know if she thought she was getting into a taxi headed back to the Holiday Inn where this 'Dutch student' was also 'staying'. Nor does anyone know, if this happened, how far away from C&C's they were. Lot's of speculation about this incident of the students 'begging' her to get out of the car. I haven't seen enough evidence to that effect.

Dr DN - I have NEVER heard anyone say her friends 'begged her to get out of the car.' Not once. Someone 'splain to me how I missed that. I have heard some here accuse the friends of covering, lying, being jealous. Mostly, I have heard that there was much confusion with many cars loading passengers. The friends have been told to zip it, as evidenced when they were approached by MSM at the memorial.

As for NH leaving with a known drug dealer, NH had no way of knowing that, unless you are suggesting that she ASKED to have her 151 shot spiked with a rufie?! I'm sorry, I guess I'm not getting what you're saying.

Vn - You are on my wavelength. There's that hopeful part of me that's wants more than anything to have a sudden miracle that would return NH to us, regardless of her condition.

There's a real ugliness amongst the men involved, who would 'partake' of NH in any form or fashion, from video to vanquishing, and not be HUMAN enough to do the right thing, to see her for the child she is and to shelter her from harm. Shame. Disgust. Animals.

As I said to TL, it's bad, real bad in Gulf Port and Biloxi. One of the ladies I'm working with today has a brother-in-law that flies an OH-6 for the MS Dept of Narcotics. He said that there is nothing left from the waterline back across Highway 90. They can't find the Treasure Bay Casino. Jefferson Davis' home, Beauvoir, is gone also.

Material things can be replaced. However, a human life can't. If she had made landfall in the worst case scenario, it would have been like a cyclone hitting Bangladesh. No telling how many would have been killed.

Now we've got to pray to stop the rising water. It's rising slow so more people should be able to get out.

Divers Search For Natalee Holloway off Aruba’s East Coast

About eight volunteer divers explored waters off Aruba’s east coast Sunday searching for Natalee Holloway. The divers were searching waters about one mile from a beach near the Holiday Inn where Holloway stayed.

(CBS/AP) Volunteer divers explored waters off Aruba’s east coast Sunday, hoping to find clues in the disappearance of missing U.S. teen Natalee Holloway.

At least eight divers volunteered to search waters about one mile from a beach near the Holiday Inn where Holloway stayed during a vacation to celebrate her high school graduation, said Eduardo Mansur, co-founder of the Aruba Search and Rescue Foundation.

Although the waters have been searched before, the group claims a radar machine invented by an American has detected human bones in the area. The inventor, Joe Walker, came to Aruba to help in the search but is currently off the island, Mansur said.

Extensive searches have produced no trace of Holloway

Natalee Holloway Case Transcends All Media Lines

Critics question why the Natalee Holloway story is so compelling and why the media and more importantly people have such a fascination and desire to read, question and talk about this case. They need to only look at the vast range of media outlets that cover this story. Not only do you have newspapers, networks and the 24-7 TV shows covering the disappearance, you also have some Sports media doing the same. How often does that occur? CNN, MSNBC, FOX and ABC having something in common with Sports Illustrated and FOX Sports? Not usually, but then again the disappearance of Natalee Holloway has far than proved it is not a typical story. So the next time someone asks what does, Sports Illustrated, CNN, CBS, Fox Sports and the Birmingham News have in common; your answer is Natalee Holloway.

From SI.com and Fox Sports comes the story of the reflections by Nate McManus who took the same graduation trip as Natalee Holloway. Nate took the attitude as most probably would have who had been on the trip previously; she must have just over slept and missed the plane. We now know just how wrong that assumption was.

ATLANTA (AP) — Nate McManus took the same graduation trip as Natalee Holloway.

“I was at home when I heard the news,” McManus recalled. “Everybody was like, ‘Oh, she missed the plane. She must have fallen asleep somewhere.’ Then a day became two days. Then it became weeks.”

“I took the exact same senior trip that she did,” McManus said. “I had the time of my life. It was awesome.”

Now Nate McManus clings to the hope that she will return safe as he begins his career at Georgia Tech as an offensive lineman only one year ago on this same trip. The reflections of an offensive lineman in college sound much the same as Natalee’s girl friends that just recently began their respective college careers as well.

Now, as McManus prepares for his first season as a starter on Georgia Tech’s offensive line, he tries to keep up with news about the missing Alabama teen, clinging to hope that she might be found alive in Aruba.

Holloway was a year behind McManus at Mountain Brook High School in suburban Birmingham, Ala. She was on the dance team that performed at football games and, while the two weren’t especially close, they did share many of the same friends.

Nate finds himself like most of us but with an even greater connection to the story, he clings to hope that she will be OK and finds himself distracted by the events. Through degrees of separation we find this story of Natalee Holloway and the efforts her family goes through to affect many of us and hit close to home in so many ways.

Paul and Anita van der Sloot say, “We are not hiding anything”

In an interview with CBS News Correspondent Kelly Cobiella, Anita says simply, “We want him to go on with his life.” The Van der Sloot’s claim the following: they “dream is to have their son home,” “We are not hiding anything” and their son did not harm Natalee Holloway.

(CBS) Paul and Anita van der Sloot’s dream is to have their son home.

In an exclusive interview with CBS News Correspondent Kelly Cobiella, Anita says simply, “We want him to go on with his life.”

Joran van der Sloot, 18, has been held since early June in the May 30 disappearance from Aruba of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.

Joran hasn’t been charged, but authorities on the Dutch Caribbean island have named him a suspect in the case.

His parents say the only thing established for sure is that Joran was with Natalee the night she vanished, and they stand by his insistence that he didn’t hurt her.


Of course Joran’s parents are going to stand by their son; however, some of the statements come across as questionable when compared to some of the previous facts in the case. Paul Van der Sloot’s comment to the suspects in jail of “no body no case” is far from providing an appearance of we are not hiding anything. This coupled with the numerous and ever changing statements that Joran has told investigators hardly makes the Van der Sloot’s parents claim that they have taught their son to tell the truth rings rather hollow . Especially when Joran lied from the outset in regards to dropping Natalee Holloway off at the Holiday Inn.

Paul denies it, saying, “We are not hiding anything. We are telling the whole truth, nothing but the truth. And we’ve always told Joran to do tell the truth.”

From the beginning, Cobiella observes, Joran has been the main suspect, and the primary focus of prosecutors and the press.

Anita accuses both of following bad leads and spreading rumors, instead of looking for the truth.

The Van der Sloot’s continue on to blame the US media is proving the appearance that their son’s guilt and is upset with the Holloway’s family for attacking their son and Paul. All this while a desperate search goes on for Natalee Holloway and the Van der Sloot’s son lied from the very beginning of his story.

But she’s most upset with Holloway’s family for attacking her son and husband on television.

“I think what the family is doing is terrible,” Anita complains. “I don’t think it’s their right to do these things like this. I know they must be upset.”

The Van der Sloots have chosen to defend themselves only sporadically until now, because they blame the United States media for making their son look guilty.

However, there is one thing that the Van der Sloot’s seem to agree on with the Holloway’s:

But the Van der Sloots agree with Holloway’s family on this: The investigation was botched from the beginning, and they add that they, too, desperately want the mystery solved.

Maybe they are referring to the fact that if their son and the Kalpoe brothers were brought in and arrested for suspicion of murder and their homes and vehicles searched from the outset as they were the last ones reported with Natalee? Or maybe they are referring to the fact that the investigation was botched because their son initially lied about what transpired that fateful evening? Yes, Paul and Anita Van der Sloot the investigation was botched in the beginning. One is compelled to wonder why Joran lied? However, the real question is, who is responsible for the botched investigation and why? More importantly, where is Natalee Holloway?
