Surinamese Deepak Kalpoe, 21, arrives to court in Oranjestad, Aruba, Friday, Aug. 26, 2005. Aruban police arrested Kalpoe and his brother Satish, 18, along with a third person according to government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg, saying he doesn't know if the arrests are connected to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Two Surinamese brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, who had been detained and released in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway were arrested again Friday based on new evidence, officials said. The brothers were detained on suspicion of involvement, with unidentified 'other people,' in premeditated murder and rape, the prosecutor's office said. Person to the right is unidentified. I don't believe she did release anyone's name either. First of all, she certainly hasn't done it in a TV interview. I think I have either seen them all or read quotes from all of the latest ones. Second of all, it is VERY common knowledge in America that the names of minors don't get released. Beth is a teacher. She knows all about those things. Someone is trying to set her up for sure. Actually, releasing the name of a minor is probably the last thing she would do. These evil people in Aruba know very little about our culture and morality.

All of this was foreseen, at least wrt NOLA itself. Not a real good idea to rebuild the whole thing, IMO.

Can someone give me a recap on what's happened in the last few days? I've been distracted by the hurricane.
I had a dream last night that I was on the jury for Joran's trial. And he called a bunch of his thugs to come in and shoot up the place. He was evil.
Yes! May thumper the rabbit be in each of their heads (there should be lots of room) and their underwear, well ....stuck!! LOL
Joran was crying.
pretending is his forte', remember.
That was my thought...I wonder if his mom or dad told him it would make him more sympathethic.
Hey Abigail,
The Kalpoes and Freddy (locoman) have all been detained on suspicion of premeditated murder, sexual assault and kidnapping. There are other girls coming forward with stories about some of these boys. One is a minor and it is said that she has filed a formal complaint.
There was a hearing today on whether or not Joran will have to stay in jail for another 30 days. Joran cried in court today, but is said to have answered all of the judge's questions. The judge has until 09/03/05 to make the decision.
The Kalpoes were also in court today, not sure why yet.
I have been involved with teh hurricane coverage, so if there's more, I've missed it.
More off topic, so scroll by if you don't want to read:
I posted this on another thread but they are too busy fighting about who said what...so does anyone know?
When the news aircrafts are taking images of these people waving tshirts, pleading for help, do they let them know they've been seen? Are they letting the 'authorities' know where people need help?
I can't imagine the helplessness of seeing someone taking photo's/video and flying off
THAT is quite the article.!! Very prophetic actually.
There hasn't been a lot of Natalee news Abigail. BUT, today is the day that Joran goes before a Judge and the prosecutor is asking for his detention to be extended another 30 days. Of course you know that the Kalpoe brothers are re-arrested and one of their friends Freddy, who makes sex films with these guys.
"The judge has until Sept. 3 to rule.]"
I just wonder why it would take the judge until the 3rd to rule! Obviously they either have the evidence or they don't! I hope and pray that none of them are released!
He may very well rule today too. I'm with you, I don't think his job today is much of a brain drain.
SM is right now saying that Beth leaked the name of a police official's son (you know the son that every Aruba poster says doesn't exist) in connection with a porn video. They don't seem to know whether it has to do with the video of the underage girl that Freddie was hauled in for, or if it is a video of Natalie.
Which one is his son again?
Good God!! They are trying to set Beth up!! I hope her Lawyers fight like a couple of she cats!! Good ole Van der Straaten AGAIN!! He's a criminal and so is his son.

Oranjestad, Aruba (AP) - A judge heard arguments today on whether to prolong the detention of a Dutch teenager who is a suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
A defense attorney for 18-year-old Joran van der Sloot urged the judge to release him because prosecutors have not produced evidence linking his client to Holloway's disappearance -- or that a crime had been committed.
The attorney said van der Sloot cried during the closed hearing but answered all of the judge's questions. He was arrested June ninth along with two friends, 18-year-old Satish Kalpoe and 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe on suspicion of involvement in Holloway's disappearance.
The Kalpoe brothers were released about a month later but were rearrested last week.
Prosecutors have filed a motion to keep the Dutch teen detained for another 30 days. The Kalpoe brothers also were taken to the court, but the reason was unclear.
The judge has until September third to rule.
Holloway was last seen May 30th leaving a bar with the Kalpoes and van der Sloot.
Defense argues for release of Dutch suspect in Holloway case

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) A judge heard arguments Wednesday on whether to prolong the detention of a Dutch suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway.
Defense attorney Antonio Carlo said he urged the judge to release Joran van der Sloot, arguing prosecutors have produced no evidence that his client was involved in Holloway's disappearance or that a crime had been committed.
Carlo said van der Sloot, 18, cried during the closed hearing but answered all of the judge's questions.
"Today was a tough session. He wants to go home," Carlo said. "He feels he has not done anything wrong. He maintains his innocence."
Van der Sloot was arrested June 9 along with two friends, Surinamese nationals Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, on suspicion of involvement in Holloway's disappearance. The Kalpoe brothers were released July 4, when van der Sloot's detention was prolonged until Sept. 4, and re-arrested last week.
Prosecutors said Tuesday they filed a motion to keep the Dutch teen detained for another 30 days. They must offer additional evidence against the teen or he must be released, according to Aruba law.
The judge has until Sept. 3 to rule.
Suspects can be detained for 116 days without charge in the Dutch Caribbean island. If the judge orders van der Sloot held for another 30 days, prosecutors have until then to charge him or he must be released.
Carlo said prosecutors introduced two allegations of a "sexual nature" against van der Sloot. He declined to provide details on the allegations, but insisted they were not new.
"We don't consider them new circumstances," he said. "They have been in the file for about two months."
Prosecutors could not be reached for comment.
The Kalpoe brothers also were taken to the court, but the reason was unclear.
Their defense attorneys, who declined to speak to reporters, have filed motions challenging their detention.
The two were arrested Friday, when a judge ruled that prosecutors had enough evidence to hold them for at least eight days while they build their case.
Eighteen-year-old Holloway, of Mountain Brook, Ala., was last seen May 30 leaving a bar with the Kalpoes and van der Sloot, hours before she was to end a vacation celebrating her graduation.
No one has been charged, and extensive searches have produced no sign of her.
I'm not so sure I would trust Beth's lawyers to fight too hard for her.
They have to live there and they're not going to buck the system.
There is a photo that has been around since the very beginning (tickle or myspace, I can't remember) that is one of the group shots of Joran with 6 or 7 of his closest friends (Freddie, Jamie, Deepak, I think, maybe Joran's brother) where they are making gang signs or whatever the two fingers to the side is. In the first row on the far left is a big blonde boy who was identified early on as Guilliame van der Stratten. All kinds of people have asked the Aruban posters on SM and RW if this is the son of the police chief. No one ever says it is. They say he doesn't have a son; nobody came to Aruba with him except his wife, etc. When the questioner follows up with the question of who is this van der Stratten kid if not the police chief's son, there is NEVER any answer from the Aruban posters. They just ignore the question.
