When the TPB (aptly named) had to resort to the tactics they did, including the conspiracy theories that made DU'ers look sane, I realized they had no basis for their argument.
Since when did the conservatives think that the sanctity of marriage should not be upheld? Husbands from time immemorial have been making medical decisions, life and death decisions, with the recommendations of doctors, since time began.
That the president, Congress and Jeb Bush have involved the federal government in that process and actually sided with the parents (regardless of the merits of their case), they will have a VERY difficult time talking about gay marriage again with any validity.
I've told my husband there was a coup going on at FR and I wasn't sure who would stand up to it. It's been a VERY small number.

Since when did the conservatives think that the sanctity of marriage should not be upheld? No offense, but in all honesty, Mr. Schiavo violated the sanctity of marriage when he started to date women and then proceeded to live with one of them.
What is the sanctity of marriage if one party can opt to date and/or live with another person while still married to the one he married?

"Since when did the conservatives think that..." ...The federal government should meddle in state affairs?
...The federal government should meddle in a family's affairs?
...The President or a governor should call out troops in full violation of all laws and the Constitution?
...Laws should be passed in the heat of emotion and propaganda affecting ONE individual?
...Children should be used as political props while being endangered?
...Lies, dissembling, unreliable witnesses, cheap stunts, and emotion should be the basis for government action?
...Individuals should be absolutely vilified without ANY evidence because it "helps the Cause"?
...The involvement of extremist groups like Bo Gritz' crew of neo-Nazis was "okay if it'll help save a life"?
...Demonizing other conservatives to the point of calling them "Devils" and "Soulless" was a GOOD thing?
I could go on and on, but you get the point.

You're right...I just saw on Larry King Joni Erickson Tada UNable to say negative stuff about MS. She started to, but LK pointed it out, trying to catch her on it, and she wouldn't go further. Neither would the other two women.
I've only heard a few speak out that MS has ruined their marriage since being "engaged"(stated in court affadavits) since 1996 (with two kids).
