" and when I do get flamed, I sure do get upset..."

Then let me join all the others in commending your posts. You started a discussion which has apparently attracted FReepers who, whatever they think of the issue of Terri's situation, are nonetheless apalled at twhat has taken place allegedly in her name.

I also want to thank you, as I have been pretty mad lately about the crap going on here lately. You have restored a bit of MY faith that there are still sane FReepers willing to speak out against madness.

I was about to call it quits after I saw FReepers actually defending and encouraging those fools who sent their children to be arrested, using them as props in their drama play in a way that put them in danger. That was beyond the pale as far as I am concerned.

When deciding a position, in addition to all else, one must also consider the behavior of both sides. The "Terri Pitchfork Brigade", as I call them (TPB), has behaved abysmally. I support Michael Schiavo in his quest to do his wife's wishes, in no small part because of that behavior.

When one uses such tactics, and justifies them with "the end justifies the means", one risks your methods tainting the entire cause.

John Gipson has an article up on FOX where he is encouraging Jeb Bush to plan "storming the Bastille", kidnapping Terri Schiavo, and "mooning" the judicial system.

I am sure there will be people here cheering that reasoning on.

GOP is going to lose the house and senate in '06 at this rate.

When the TPB (aptly named) had to resort to the tactics they did, including the conspiracy theories that made DU'ers look sane, I realized they had no basis for their argument.

Since when did the conservatives think that the sanctity of marriage should not be upheld? Husbands from time immemorial have been making medical decisions, life and death decisions, with the recommendations of doctors, since time began.

That the president, Congress and Jeb Bush have involved the federal government in that process and actually sided with the parents (regardless of the merits of their case), they will have a VERY difficult time talking about gay marriage again with any validity.

I've told my husband there was a coup going on at FR and I wasn't sure who would stand up to it. It's been a VERY small number.

Thanks for your kind reply...I was somewhat on the fence about these children being sent in to bring water to Terri...on the one hand, it did seem like a brave thing to do, if this is what the children really believed...but I had to wonder about the wisdom of it...how did they expect to give Terri the water?...what did they think would happen if they tried to enter the hospice?...it appeared that they did, what they did either at their parents bequest, or at least with their parents approval...

Here we come to another point...every time some little girl or boy disappears, and is found later to have been raped and murdered, there are always tons of Freepers, declaring that it was to be expected, after all, the parents did not do all to keep their kids safe...Danielle VanDames parents were swingers, so what did they expect?...Elizabeth Smart was a Mormon(I am not a Mormon, but get sick of seeing so much Mormon bashing), and therefore her all too trusting father did not care for her correctly, and oh, ,by the way, she was indoctrinated into plural wives concept by her religion, so these posters tell us, thats why she did not try to escape...and after all, Samantha Runyon was killed, because she was in front of her house, with her grandmother inside, and grannie wasnt paying enough attention..and there were those that blamed little Samanthas mom, because she had a 'job'...oh the horror of it, having a job...then the latest little angel in Florida, all these upright Christian posters, flinging around their accusations, accusing the dad, because he did not seem 'clean cut' enough for them, because he may be not as educated as them, because on and on and on...you get my point...The blame for the deaths and harm that came to all these children, was the fault of the criminal, not the fault of the parents...but you would never know that, from the discussions here on FR..

And yet, those very same posters, may be congratulating children for getting into trouble when they tried to get into Terris hospice....they also put their children in direct danger...who knows what is going to happen at that hospice? Thank goodness those children were safe...

Lots and lots of flip flopping going on around here...

"behaved abysmally"

Where do we go to find out right and wrong? Scripture.

I'm not defending anyone, just saying that what YOU think is wrong MUST be defended by God's Word (correctly interpreted)in order for you to have authority in that action.

God says we are to have mercy over justice. We've been hearing the opposite, that we must be a land laws alone.
No. Jesus said all God's laws boil down to one: Love God and love your neighbor.
