Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Friday that subpoenas issued by Sen. Mike Enzi compelling Terri Schiavo to appear at a March 28 congressional hearing made it a crime to disconnect her feeding tube - and threatened anyone who interfered with her testimony with jail.
In a statement issued by the majority leader's office, Frist said:
"Federal criminal law protects witnesses called before official Congressional committee proceedings from anyone who may obstruct or impede a witness attendance or testimony."
"More specifically," said the Senate's top Republican, "the law protects a witness from anyone who - by threats, force, or by any threatening letter or communication - influences, obstructs, or impedes an inquiry or investigation by Congress.
"Anyone who violates this law is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment," Frist said.

Tell me one place where I've done anything but combat the lies and misrepresentations and urban legends surrounding this case? You're full of it.
Smart guys usually anticipate where Jim's going to come down on something and go the other way.
He abuses little boys as well.
Your "corrections", as you call them, seem focused more on pushing the "right of the husband" issue than anything else. When it comes to the medical side of things I noticed the Republicans had a couple of doctors who are members of Congress answering questions, and then Bill Frist is also a physician.
The Dems brought out fixers and grafters.
I'm sticking with Frist on this one, and since you've managed to get Jim Moran grafted to your positions, you might well consider "reconsidering".
Nice to speak to you again, Republic
Quite a bit of error in that sentence of yours.
Always said that if the mother had lived, he'd should be living in Florida, happy.
But ironically you want to cite Fathers' Rights over husband's in Terri Schiavo's case.
Howza bout that for an example of your hypocrisy?
And BTW, now little Elian is living happily in Cuba. And obviously you're still losing sleep that the kid couldn't have good old American USA morals for a compass.
Cheers...I think!
I know Jim Moran was a real surprise, but I just knew what position he would take whenever there's a man and wife issue ~ he'd favor her death!
Huh? Are you drinking or something? That was quite possibly the most nonsensicle post I've seen today and I've seen a bunch.
So I see you can't post anything I've said about this matter that does anything but indicate I'm trying to get freepers to stop sounding like nutjobs and discrediting FR with spreading urban legends. So quit spreading lies about me or post the evidence. Your choice.
An apology to a known liar? That'll be the day.
However, there should be no need for me to do so now that it's obvious where Jim Moran is coming down on the question. He's your ideological soulmate, not mine!
"Terri Schiavo's family have been denied all visitation per Terri's sister Posted by Peach to Hildy On News/Activism 03/20/2005 3:57:37 PM EST · 81 of 162This happens every day across this nation and I'm really puzzled why this case has received the attention it has.
Today, in their press conference, one of the physicians who is a member of Congress said something like this case might arrive at a federal court 5 or 6 times a year, at most, and probably less frequently.
He's a doctor so I presume he knows something about what he's saying.
That frequency, which has been available for everybody to reference, has been around since the legislation was first introduced, and there's no doubt you knew about it.
Now if you didn't know about it, you weren't technically telling a fib, but on the other hand, you were MISINFORMING US about a fact concerning this debate, and you should have known that you didn't have the facts.
Jim Moran does that quite often.
Ahem.
I was referring to the fact that every single day in this country, people are taken off life support or stomach tubes are removed.
"Today, in their press conference, one of the physicians who is a member of Congress said something like this case might arrive at a federal court 5 or 6 times a year, at most, and probably less frequently." That's because cases like this don't end up in federal court very often. Which was my MAIN point. Hello?
Nice try, but no cigar. Lame. Very, very lame. LOL
Michael Schiavo is quoted as asking When is that bitch gonna die?; by Terri's nurse, Carla Iyer in a deposition in September of 2003.
Michael Schiavo forfeited his "Sanctity of Marriage" argument with that statement alone.....

And reading posts like these are no different than reading the hateful diatribe expressed by the Left. This is quiet embarrassing, really... conservatives they are not.
My specialist is post 2002, one who spoke of new technology and treatments to help Terri.
The actions by Frist and others disturb me greatly, but your sweeping generalizations about pro-lifers are insulting. Some are irresponsible fools. Some very few are downright evil. Many, however, are quite sincere and level .headed.
I would hope that the word's "kookie/whacked-out" used as adjectives would suffice to mean that I wasn't grouping them all together. I'm Pro-Life, but I wouldn't hold out my vote and give a scummy liberal an opportunity on that one issue.
Why don't you tell us who it is and give us a link to an article or something.
You're not bad, Enterprise, not bad at all.
Thank you for the clarification. :)
Haven't we all. What's the old saying, a friend is a person who dislikes the same people you do.
Why don't you just spend the rest of the evening trying to find ANY post where I have indicated I don't want this woman to live?
I can wait while you look.
You really should try the DU, they are arguing your case for you at this very moment.
And you really should find a better way to debate, other than calling names; it's dishonest and vacuous.

GOD Save the Vulnerable from the Bullies.

Please let me know what name I called you. I merely told you where to find similiar arguments. Can't help it if their arguments are similiar to yours. That's your problem.
