Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Friday that subpoenas issued by Sen. Mike Enzi compelling Terri Schiavo to appear at a March 28 congressional hearing made it a crime to disconnect her feeding tube - and threatened anyone who interfered with her testimony with jail.
In a statement issued by the majority leader's office, Frist said:
"Federal criminal law protects witnesses called before official Congressional committee proceedings from anyone who may obstruct or impede a witness attendance or testimony."
"More specifically," said the Senate's top Republican, "the law protects a witness from anyone who - by threats, force, or by any threatening letter or communication - influences, obstructs, or impedes an inquiry or investigation by Congress.
"Anyone who violates this law is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment," Frist said.

Who are you to blindly believe that all 11,000 are legit?
It has been pointed out to you again, and again, and again, and again that those reviews were of process only, not facts. So, I have to take it at this point in time that you either don't understand what the difference is, or that you are basically disingenuous.
Do you know how many people do NOT have living wills? But their desire not to be kept alive on machines or by a feeding tube are no less valid.
And do you know how silly you sound when you talk about MS strangling her?
It's odd that none of the paramedics, nurses, doctors or family members who visited her immediately after the accident and subsequent heart attack EVER mentioned the possibility that MS strangled Terri.
It's also odd that he filed a medical malpractice suit against the doctors who treated her and they, in their defense, didn't investigate and discover that he strangled her. LOL. Use your head.
"And if Congress -- the other representative legislative body of the people -- tries to intervene and help a state legislature under siege, we are then lectured that this violates federalism, even though Congress has the constitutional power to do this. None of this would even be an issue if education in this country were just adequate. If it were just adequate when it comes to teaching the Constitution. But it's not, and that's one of the problems with the left having control over education."
PS.
You gotta lot of CHUTZPAH to have the quote "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
on your page.
As Mr. Rogers would say...
"Boys ad girls, the word today is "hypocrite". That's H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E. Can you say that? Hypocrite?"
I looked at an online do-it-yourself living will the other day. You have the choice of "everything possibl4e" to "no heroic measures". A seperate question asks if you want nourishment withheld or not. Just thought it interesting.
Absolutely! Then there's no question. However I doubt anyone would put in writing that if they are otherwise physically healthy they would want to be starved to death.
This story is so big in its implications/precident. The logical consequences of allowing a human being to die by starvation (and calling it humane) is staggering.
There have been so many stories over the years of people (parents & guardians) having mentally disabled kids in their home who are found malnourished & starving - and the outrage is huge - what's the difference?
So when you don't have facts to back up your arguments you resort to personal attacks. That says a lot more about you than about me.
MS did; not sure about Greer. MS declared he did on TeeVee, boasted of it, in fact. There was a little quote on a thread yesterday. He's quite the expert in starving others to death. Turning into a habit.
I would be interested to know about Greer.
What really blows my mind is the number of starvation supporters on FR.
I live in Montgomery County, in the Peoples Republic of Maryland. ;^)
BTW, someone on Fox whose name I didn't catch just referred to "the sanctity [sic] of the Florida judicial system" -- I think he's losing it!
Michael wouldn't allow feeding without the tube, because of a) the expense and, b) Terri wouldn't look nearly as PVS as he wanted if it was reported that she could eat by mouth. The loving husband wouldn't even let her receive communion, too much successful swallowing for his liking.
Me. I would.

To be honest with you, yes I am.
I don't think this is the right way to go about things. You don't make decisions based on previous bad decisions.
We don't need more laws, what we need are judges who respect the law and our constitution.
Judges need to be reigned in. They need to recognize and accept that there are matter where they do not have the power to make any rulings. I have listed out some on my blog and went into great detail to explain this.
As I said sarcastically earlier. Judge Greer can issue any court order he wants. He can issue a court order saying I must love my wife and her cooking if he wants. He can issue a court order saying that you go to heaven. It is a worthless piece of paper.
Think about it!
A judge issues an order starving an American citizen to death, who is guilty of no crime and depriving them of the right to live.
It is completely insane!!!
Do you have a problem seeing the sheer stupidity of this?
I know full well what the difference is; and it's the way the legal system has worked in this country for well over 200 years.
And you're not going to get a NEW TRIAL in this legislation either. You're going to get a REVIEW.
Keeping Terri Schiavo alive is no different than trying to exhibit Pandas in a zoo...solely for the benefit of whom?
HUH????
You're the first.

Rush is right!
Well, only Democrats anyway.
