Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Friday that subpoenas issued by Sen. Mike Enzi compelling Terri Schiavo to appear at a March 28 congressional hearing made it a crime to disconnect her feeding tube - and threatened anyone who interfered with her testimony with jail.
In a statement issued by the majority leader's office, Frist said:
"Federal criminal law protects witnesses called before official Congressional committee proceedings from anyone who may obstruct or impede a witness attendance or testimony."
"More specifically," said the Senate's top Republican, "the law protects a witness from anyone who - by threats, force, or by any threatening letter or communication - influences, obstructs, or impedes an inquiry or investigation by Congress.
"Anyone who violates this law is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment," Frist said.

Congress was checking out what they shot into their butts, so why not?!
Why do you want Terri to die?
What's YOUR agenda?
I want her right to life to be respoeted, period. The state has a duty to protect those who cannot do so for themselves.
And her POS hubby's motives are suspect, so he should be removed as guardian. Give him his damn divorce and get him out of the case entirely.
BTW, if he had "love" or "compassion" for Terri, (which is a lie), then he wouldn't be playing house with a ho right now.
I was going more for that "Hillbilly" Libertarian mentality that seems to permeate people from your region. It consistently seems to produce people who are:
Fiscally Conservative (Leave my Moonshine business alone) &
Socially Liberal (I make my own personal rules like Grandpa taught us we should)
The rest of the red states view it as Hillbilly Morals, aka. Libertarian.
"I am sure Michael would have moved on and not lived in sin as you so judge, had the state not interfered in his/her personal life 11 yrs ago.
There comes a time in life to move on and he has not been allowed to because of 11 yrs of interferance. He was dealt a terrible decision 11 yrs ago and now agony over that decision and the continual interferance has turned into resentment and defiance. Does that make him a bad person as so many try to make him out to be. As if that somehow justifys that only others have a better way but cannot say how....... like a Kerry Campaign speech."
You can quote this Biblically?
I guess the same cracker jack box you got your ability to read minds from?
Surprise. Nothing inside!!
Ok Mr Reverend, time to pass judgement with the communion?
God bless your opinions.
......... not in Pittsburgh, are you? ;-)
You're pretty damn smart for 17.
The essence of the butt injections investigation was supposedly the "effect on the high schoolers and other young folks". Not quite the same. ;-)
Okay, big mouth; cut and paste ANY post of mine where I've said that.
I can wait.
Ugh!
Never mind; I looked at your home page. A Bircher.
I'm not much interested in anything you have to say.
You are now labeled a Nazi? I'm speechless!
The kid lives in Western PA now.
How's that cold? A couple thousand units of a good vitamin C always works for me.
And a murderer!
I guess I shall have to go to jail with you (which I couldn't understand WHY you had to go, but, hey, truth and/or sense doesn't seem to be required on this thread!)
Mt Lebo
Please tell us how many girlfriends and families a husband is allowed to have and still maintain the sanctity of marriage?
The federal judge who gets this will conduct a de novo hearing of the case. New findings of fact will be made, as well as findings of law. The federal court will not be bound by Greer's 'factual' findings.
