Now, I have one question for you: Is Terry Schindler Schiavo a PERSON??
If your answer is yes, why should your opinions carry more weight than the foundational documents that lay out the rule of law in our Republic?
How do you know what she goes through on a minute-by-minute basis? How could you possibly know, unless of course you use to be in her condition? I firmly believe that Terri wants to live and that she can get significantly better with therapy. If she didn't want to live I don't think she would have lasted this long.
My first non-opus was directed squarely at you. If I recall correctly, it pissed you off enough that you stayed to spite me. :o)

I am with you on this Hildy. The use of Terri Schiavo by people with a political agenda borders of the obscene. While nobody wants to see her suffer a horrible protracted death via starvation, she's become a human football being kicked back and forth by people whose business she is not, and it's very unseemly.
I have been through horrible long drawn out deaths several times with relatives and friends. I saw a friend in Viet Nam with the back top of his head blown off, leaving only the very base stem of the brain. The bullet went through just above and behind his ears. He reacted to stimuli in the hospital just like Terri does now. His doctors recommended letting him die with dignity since there was no hope, but his parent’s religion got in the way. Their decision was to take him home and pray for miracles. The doctors said the teenager could live for fifty to sixty years on a feeding tube, but he would never re-grow a functioning brain.
Everyone just ignored the post and flamed me with their good christian views. I give up on them, but not on Free Republic. Just ignore them and stay off of their hyper threads until the inevitable happens and then they will all disappear. There is no logic or common sense in their posts, only pure emotion based on projecting themselves into her body. She has been dead for fifteen years. I believe they are the ones thwarting God's will. There is no evidence to the contrary.

On second thought, maybe you are right in leaving.
You and I have disagreed on a lot of things over the years, but I have always found you to be a honest debater and able to make your points with valid information, whether I agreed with them or not.
Don't let these people get you down; reading one of the threads yesterday, I saw one of them saying that they didn't like so and so on "our threads." That says it all, doesn't it?
It's turned into a cult, IMO. And if you disagree or dare to ask a question, you must be destroyed.

This is NOT debate; this is using this forum to further THEIR personal agenda; I suspect a lot of these people will be gone when and if this story is over.
Unfortunately for those of us, they don't seem to want us on "their threads" in order to gain any information; evidently the only "information" that is relevant to this particular story is their side. Certainly there are some people on those threads who are capable of rational thought AND discourse; they seem to be the people we've fought other battles with in the last years.
In closing, don't leave. We need you here to keep the rest of us who have a tendancy to go off on a tangent in line by asking pertinent questions to bring us back into focus.
