Fifth Amendment, U.S. Constitution

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Florida Constitution, Statement of Rights

SECTION 2. Basic rights.--All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty, to pursue happiness, to be rewarded for industry, and to acquire, possess and protect property; except that the ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship may be regulated or prohibited by law. No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability.

Now, I have one question for you: Is Terry Schindler Schiavo a PERSON??

If your answer is yes, why should your opinions carry more weight than the foundational documents that lay out the rule of law in our Republic?

She has not been deprived of rights, she simply cannot exercise them.

This is precisely the reason that M. Shiavo petitioned the court to decide this issue and has pledged to abide by that decision, whatever it may be.

This procedure is the protection of Terry's rights.

In the village of Chimayo, New Mexico about the time of Terri's "collapse" a young man named Ricky Abeyta took his hunting rifle and shot and killed seven people.

He killed his wife, her girlfriend and the girlfriend's boyfriend, their six-month-old daughter, their younger brother, a deputy sheriff and a state policeman.

Ricky Abeyta is getting three meals a day in a Texas prison as I type.

If anyone tried to prevent Ricky Abeyta from eating or drinking with the intent to kill him, that person would be subject to the most serious penalties under law.

For that matter, were any one of the inmates of the Abu Ghraib prison--or any prison foreign or domestic--be subject to the same isolation and confinement and sensory deprivation as Terri Schiavo has been subjected to by Michael Schiavo and Judge Greer, Ted Kennedy would be on every news channel and a motion to impeach the president would be pursued with such a vengeance as has never been seen in the halls of of congress.

There are reasons why Michael Schiavo must not be enabled by Judge Greer in the former's attempt to murder and rob Terri Schiavo.

Oh my, it isn't such a pretty case of simply "removing the feeding tube"--no, it's considerably darker than that.
