Not so ‘Free Republic’: The Shot Heard Around the Net
The Conservative Voice ^ | Feb 11, 2005 | by William Gheen, President, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC

Posted on 02/11/2005 10:55:36 AM PST by Jim Robinson

The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the President’s ‘guest worker’ amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.

The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The management’s answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.

Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.

Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bush’s immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the President’s Oath of Office.

Agreed.

And, I still don't think he has free reign by a long shot. I think he tries to do the Godly honorable patriotic thing for the country.

But I still personally suspect that the puppet masters give him orders about some things--under threat of death if he doesn't comply. I think he chooses his battles and does the good he can because he knows the likelihood that someone else in the office would be more compliant with the wrong goals. Just my personal hunch given various puzzle pieces.

The times we live in are crazier and crazier. He needs lots of prayer!

half of Zacatecas is over here --- yet immigration from that state is not slowed --- and they've more likely than ever to risk death trying.

And it will continue to get worse, as long as once they are here, they can disappear and earn a living.

It is not the earning the living that is the problem. This act helps us immensely in a variety of work needs and requirements.

What hurts is that they cannot assimilate. They cannot or are hampered because they came illegally. They work for companies that have no Federal ID # and are not currently paying SS or taxes.

We tried after the 86 debacle to control the problem through the control of companies and we only succeeded in pushing them underground. We failed, even with the legit companies because of poorly written law and huge legal costs, lack of courts, and you name it.

For a moment, lets accept the fact that what we did, did not work and we blew it.

Now what do we do? Build wall, they take a boat, a plane.

Issue visas, they over stay them and ignore the courts because if they do not they get deported.

They are marrying our kids, they are living here, there, and everywhere and no one knows how many they are.

We first must throw a blanket over the light that draws them in illegally, by creating a legal method to do exactly what they are doing now. They will come anyway, so use the energy and momentum to control the problem.

We begin by passing stiff regulations for businesses. No Fed ID #, and you get no business permits, no contracts, no work for any other legitimate contractor. No checking accounts, no ability to pay cash with much tighter cash regs.

I can hear them squealing now.

Then, in order to hire anyone not a citizen, they must have a valid work permit issue by ICE. As they start to come in, phased in area by area, you debrief them, you find out where they work, you data mine them for info on relatives, associations and data bank it. You verify the job, and if the company is still not in compliance, you make them comply. Once a security check is done you issue a numbered permit, a foreign national drivers license with biometric info.

One last thing is a fine for the illegal entry in the amount of 2500.00,(500.00 if they apply from home) and away they go.

Any criminal record, non compliance, fake id, and they are bussed home to Mexico.

This will need to phased in. There are a bunch of detail to work out. The fines will also be levied on the companies that comply. They broke the law as well and the fines need to be based on the number of violations.

Those businesses that fail to comply will fold. They will have to.

I think the permit should be for one year, but renewed yearly by phone verification for a total of three to four years depending on what they are doing.

They should be allowed to transit freely with their documents so they can get back into a migratory pattern without fear.

They will carry the word home, that without going through the process, there will be no work and they will starve or be forced to ask for a ride home.

This is pretty rough, but it is something I have been thinking about for a while. We should also extend this to other countries. We should only issue permits for verified jobs and several regional employment operations will be handling that. I am not being specific about the infrastucture they will need to do this, but the fines and fees can be adjusted as necessary to cover the costs.

If I am in the minority here, I'll mostly shut up.

That ain't my MO. Grow a pair, you Rebel you. When I am in a minority here, which is very often, I just put my diplomacy hat on, and go to work, early and often. LOL.

The 'randy' part was an inside joke to a few of my friends.

You wouldn't get it.

As to my 'shameless pandering' it was sincere and from my heart. It's who I am. It's what I think.

I'm not out to get anyone here, F16. Take off the tinfoil before you look any sillier than you already do.

That may be so; but, the issue here is that local businessmen don't want to pay legal wages. They don't want to pay a market established wage. They just want the profit they can get from slavery without the label. And the politicians have seen to it that they have had it. It's come to Jesus time on a number of subjects. And what Mexico thinks about it is moot. Why the illegals are coming in droves is irrelevant.
They have access to the legal means of getting here and would then have the protections of our legal system as well as constitutional rights. They have no excuses - nor do the politicians or the business crowd. And the time for excuse making is long past. The time for corrective action is here. And the risk rises every time they feed us a line of crap IMO.

Well.......having lived in Haiti off and on for a few years doing exploitative business can promise the world that if we built an ark big enuff to hold Haiti to come here....there might be a couple a hundred folks left there.

Ditto....Sierra Leone, Dom Rep, Colombia

Ditto nearly all the 2nd and 3rd worlds and a chunk of the 1st even.

Deer Hunting leases are gonna go up quick I can see...we'll be hunting on postage stamps and our language will be like Blade Runner....polyglot.

But....I know....that's all good to many here. Cultural Suicide...a good thang....whoops I said culture...I'm a racist...I'm sorry.

All cultures are equal. All cultures are equal. I must learn to think good thoughts so I can be a sanctimonmious jackass too

"I would like a serious poll. If I am in the minority here, I'll mostly shut up.

Do folks want W's plan or something tougher?"

Good idea for the poll. Straight to the point. And the matter of "how tough" to be addressed.

Hey tough-guy -- maybe you'd like to pull your head out of Luis' @ss long enough to find my "assertion."

Please try to refrain from personal attacks.

"You claim that I support illegal immigration."

Really?? Can you quote me, Sparky?"

"Post the links."

Gee, now that you mention it, how DOES one post 4 years of links?

1,184 posted on 02/11/2005 7:47:32 PM CST by F16Fighter

If you are saying now that you didn't mean to imply Luis has posted 4 years of pro-illegal posts, then what else where you implying?

A reasonable person would conclude from the above post that you do believe he supports immigration.

But then again, what's it to ya?

I want to know the truth. I'm not going to take his word for it. And I won't take yours for it either. Why should I?

I don't think any second Mexican war would start in Mexico.

I think it would start here with radicalized Mexican-Americans.

You weren't in our rural town just before the Prop 187 vote to cut benefits to illegals back in the early '90's.

There was a big march through our small town with a lot of young Mexican-Americans screaming and shaking clenched fists and roughing up some motorists and cars.

And then a bunch of American voters were so shocked they went out and voted for the proposition...which a shopped liberal judge threw out.

The liberal teachers radicalize them. MECHA/MAPPA (? not sure) funds them going to college and radicalizes them more, where "ethnic studies" keeps up the process.

Have you heard their stuff about "Aztecland" and taking it back and killing all us Anglos?

The Aztecs were actually a very vicious and evil and brutal people who conquered the inhabitants of Mexico not long before the Spanish conquistadors arrived, who were also vicious. And the recent governments of Mexico have also been vicious toward native tribe members in Mexico.

They don't have a lot of good role models from their culture, these young Mexican Americans, as far as I can tell.

"Yet --- what could be more racist than an amnesty program for just the citizens of only one foreign country. If you're a particular "race" you get put on the fast track to citizenship and crimes like felonly document fraud are overlooked --- yet someone of the wrong race, from the wrong country who has always shown respect for our laws gets punished and is not given anything. In fact the law breakers from one particular "race" or country will be the only ones allowed in on this amnesty. "

You guys always give yourselves away, and you have this need to resort to lies.

There has never been any indication from Bush, his cabinet, or anyomne in hius administration that this plan would only apply to one group...it's YOUR fixation on all things Mexican that gets into gear, and projects YOUR prejudices on to everything.

Here are Bush's words on the subject from his 2005 State of the Union Address:

"America's immigration system is also outdated -- unsuited to the needs of our economy and to the values of our country. We should not be content with laws that punish hardworking people who want only to provide for their families, and deny businesses willing workers, and invite chaos at our border. It is time for an immigration policy that permits temporary guest workers to fill jobs Americans will not take, that rejects amnesty, that tells us who is entering and leaving our country, and that closes the border to drug dealers and terrorists."

That makes you and army of one so far...and me...that's two.

What about deporting illegals?

Even Denmark and Holland are doing that now....even with resident aliens that commit felonies (they are more worried about the Moon Rock Nazis).

We hardly ever address that part of the border question anymore...the terrs.

Yes........it was used by an editorialist who thought the President was 'randy' for kissing Laura in church and patting her on the bottom.

Pretty funny that the left is disturbed by the overt affection of our happily married President for his wife, but wasn't at all bothered by the debauchery and amorality of the last one.

It was kind of a fun thread. :o)
