Unless he was talkin' smack while lying there. As I said earlier, no matter how out of bounds the fan was for tossing that brew, Artest has to have the presence of mind not to run into the stands and physically go after the guy he thought threw the thing. It could cost him his career. Worth it just to land a few punches? No way.

Yeah, of course it's not worth it. But I can understand why he did it.

I'm not a Pistons fan...I hate the Pistons..I live in Wisconsin. I hope OSU crushes Michigan tomorrow, so my Badgers have a long-shot hope at the Rose bowl.

But watch that video in post 347. You have a 22-year old kid, probably about 5-11 and 175 pounds. He has two NBA players, both 6'-7" and 230 pounds coming up into the stands to beat the crap out of him.

That would tend to cause many fans in the stands to go over the top. I'm not condoning the rowdy fans who tossed stuff and rushed the court. And for those fans that came on the court, they got what they deserved and should be fined and arrested.

But Ron Artest is a player who has a long, long history of mental instability. About two years ago, he went after a cameraman during a game, and destroyed a $100,000 Hi-Def camera the TV crew was using.

Read this article on Artest's violent history:
http://www.redmen.com/article295.html

At some point, David Stern has to realize that having someone like Artest in his league is a huge problem. If it isn't apparent now, it never will be. Artest has to go.

What's odd is that there are fights at almost EVERY football game with a high attendance at the college and pro level. They get broken up, but they usually begin with words and thrown objects and liquid.

Why do we hold these men to a higher standard than we'd hold ourselves if someone threw beer at us at a football game? Or threw a flipping chair?!?

What about the Antoine Walker case, where a fan threw something at him and put his HANDS on him?

It's one way with some people on this board, and I think I know why.

Doubt it. The people throwing beer and stuff were power people in Detroit. Too much video. The power people in Detroit dont want to be charged as well. Will be civil suits.

Talk about alcohol abuse!!! :)

Several on this thread tend to think banning it won't happen, but after a couple of million dollar lawsuits, it will.

My reaction was more from the ESPN idiots than anything else. had to go there because local sports were all doing local football play-off games.

I went to a basketball game and a Vibe Awards broke out?

That was my first thought, too.

Artest doesn't have to go, I don't think. If you were at a football game and someone threw beer at you, I don't think you'd overlook it.

I will say that Artest does have issues, but it's usually with his rough play, not with this kind of issue. A Pitcher went into the stands to retrieve a hat and got into a fight. I submit that this is just bad timing for Artest, but it has nothing to do with "artest" just that someone threw a beer at his face when he was trying to stay away from the 'fight' oncourt.

Boston Bruins got into a fight with Rangers fans in 79(As mentioned here)

BTW, I like the Pistons MORE than I like the Pacers and I'm a MICHIGAN fan and my dad was a Pistons fan and from Michigan.

Just so you know :)

Screw Wisconsin, Go Blue! You know the Badgers don't deserve anything, they couldn't beat State, you think they'd beat Michael Hart, Edwards and Henne and SHazor? LOL
