Peterson jurors possibly divided; judge denies mistrial request
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Jurors deciding Scott Peterson's fate may have hit a snag after less than a week of deliberations.
Judge Alfred A. Delucchi summoned the panelists to the courtroom Monday morning where he lectured them about the importance of keeping an open mind.
The judge reissued instructions on several key points.
"The people and the defendant are entitled to the individual opinion of each juror," the judge said. "Do not hesitate to change your opinion for the purpose of reaching a verdict if you can do so.
"The attitude and conduct of jurors at all times is very important," he added. "It is rarely helpful for a juror at the beginning of deliberations to express an emphatic opinion on the case."

Jurors appear to be at an impasse
11:47 a.m.: REDWOOD CITY - Jurors in Scott Peteron’s double-murder trial appeared this morning to be at an initial impasse.
Judge Alfred Delucchi brought in the panel at about 10:35 a.m. and re-instructed them on certain areas of the law, including that “the attitude and the conduct of jurors at all times is very important” and that is was not helpful for jurors to initially “express an emphatic opinion on a case.”
The six men and six women on the jury, who have been deliberating since Wednesday afternoon, where then instructed to continue deliberating.
After they left the courtroom, Delucchi said "if I have to bring the jury back in again" he would read them an instruction from another case in which the jury initially was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on one of two counts, and the court further instructed them in an attempt to break the deadlock.
“We’ll see what develops,” Delucchi said. “We’ll be in recess until we hear from the jury.”

If you didn't know you were at a murder trial yesterday, you'd think you were watching a batch of clowns with law degrees and cheap suits, haplessly screwing up the five-month murder trial of one Scott Peterson.

Evidence of jury discord?
Apparent conflicts on panel prod judge to offer some advice
REDWOOD CITY — Jurors in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial appeared Monday morning to be in discord but continued deliberating throughout the day. They also asked for access to a host of evidence, including tidal charts, an anchor found in Peterson's boat, his secretly recorded calls to his former girlfriend and a plastic bag — apparently one found near his wife's remains.
That request came after jurors Monday inspected Peterson's boat for a second time, with some of their behavior triggering defense calls for a mistrial or for the jury to see a taped demonstration. Judge Alfred Delucchi denied both requests.
About an hour and a half later, Delucchi brought in the jury and re-instructed them on certain areas of the law, including that "the attitude and the conduct of jurors at all times is very important" and that it was not helpful for jurors to initially "express an emphatic opinion on a case or to announce a determination to stand for a certain verdict."
Jurors appeared somber as the judge spoke.

With Greta pimping for Peterson, much as she did for OJ, and her pampering the dismissed juror, I wonder if she's had an impression on someone on the jury prior to their being sequestered?
I cant believe they are interupting my local tv coverage of the the trial to break in with updates on our armed forces in combat in fallujah!! have they no sense of priority?
Maybe this was posted somewhere in the thread but if the alternate juror who just replaced the one kicked off was the woman nodding in agreement with Geragos when he was giving his closing arguments then we're probably looking at a hung jury at the very least. I mean this woman has nine tattoos and gave up her bank job and salary to serve on the panel, I doubt she'll be giving in easy to any pressure.
