Jurors turn focus to Scott Peterson's fishing boat
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Jurors in Scott Peterson's capital murder trial want to see the boat the fertilizer salesman allegedly used to dump his wife's body in the San Francisco Bay, according to two sources close to the case.
The panel wrote a note to Judge Alfred Delucchi Friday requesting an inspection of the 14-foot aluminum Gamefisher Peterson took out on the bay Dec. 24, 2002, the day he reported his wife, Laci, missing.
The sources confirmed to Court TV that the boat will be brought to the courthouse and jurors will see it Monday.
The request to see the boat came as the panel completed a third day of deliberations without reaching a verdict. The six men and six women have weighed evidence for nearly 19 hours. They will spend the weekend sequestered at a hotel, but they are not permitted to discuss the case until they return to the jury room at about 8 a.m. Monday.

Peterson jurors possibly divided; judge denies mistrial request
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Jurors deciding Scott Peterson's fate may have hit a snag after less than a week of deliberations.
Judge Alfred A. Delucchi summoned the panelists to the courtroom Monday morning where he lectured them about the importance of keeping an open mind.
The judge reissued instructions on several key points.
"The people and the defendant are entitled to the individual opinion of each juror," the judge said. "Do not hesitate to change your opinion for the purpose of reaching a verdict if you can do so.
"The attitude and conduct of jurors at all times is very important," he added. "It is rarely helpful for a juror at the beginning of deliberations to express an emphatic opinion on the case."
The jurors listened with grim expressions before they were sent back into the jury room to resume deliberating. It was not immediately .......

Jurors appear to be at an impasse
11:47 a.m.: REDWOOD CITY - Jurors in Scott Peterons double-murder trial appeared this morning to be at an initial impasse.
Judge Alfred Delucchi brought in the panel at about 10:35 a.m. and re-instructed them on certain areas of the law, including that the attitude and the conduct of jurors at all times is very important and that is was not helpful for jurors to initially express an emphatic opinion on a case.
The six men and six women on the jury, who have been deliberating since Wednesday afternoon, where then instructed to continue deliberating.
After they left the courtroom, Delucchi said "if I have to bring the jury back in again" he would read them an instruction from another case in which the jury initially was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on one of two counts, and the court further instructed them in an attempt to break the deadlock.
Well see what develops, Delucchi said. Well be in recess until we hear from the jury.
They clearly sent out a note, said former San Francisco prosecutor James Hammer, who observed the proceeding. The judge has some indication theyre.......

November 9, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. The judge in the Scott Peterson murder trial fearing jurors are nearing a deadlock yesterday urged bickering panel members to work together and not stubbornly stick to biased, preconceived opinions. "We've been here for 51/2 months," Judge Alfred Delucchi reminded grim-faced jurors on their fourth day of deliberations.
"Each of you must decide the case for yourself, but you do so only after discussing the evidence . . . with other jurors."........

BOZO CITY CLOWNS TURNING TRIAL INTO CIRCUS
November 9, 2004 -- BOZO CITY, Calif. This comical town formerly known as Redwood City has earned a new name: Bozo City.
What a great place to see judges and prosecutors in bright, red noses, water squirting from their lapels wrecking everything they touch.
If you didn't know you were at a murder trial yesterday, you'd think you were watching a batch of clowns with law degrees and cheap suits, haplessly screwing up the five-month murder trial of one Scott Peterson.
Scott certainly enjoyed the show. He never stopped .......

Evidence of jury discord?
Apparent conflicts on panel prod judge to offer some advice
REDWOOD CITY Jurors in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial appeared Monday morning to be in discord but continued deliberating throughout the day. They also asked for access to a host of evidence, including tidal charts, an anchor found in Peterson's boat, his secretly recorded calls to his former girlfriend and a plastic bag apparently one found near his wife's remains.
That request came after jurors Monday inspected Peterson's boat for a second time, with some of their behavior triggering defense calls for a mistrial or for the jury to see a taped demonstration. Judge Alfred Delucchi denied both requests.
About an hour and a half later, Delucchi brought in the jury and re-instructed them on certain areas of the law, including that "the attitude and the conduct of jurors at all times is very important" and that it was not helpful for jurors to initially "express an emphatic opinion on a case or to announce a determination to stand for a certain verdict."
Jurors appeared somber as the judge spoke.

You have a very undisciplined finger..It clicked on the one thread on the trial..I suggest you need training to avoid all such threads..I'm over on the Live Fallujah thread.
Trapped in a web of lies, Scotty finds he doesn't have a leg to stand on with the fish story.
Thanks, runningbear.

Meeting in the judge's chambers...
LOL!!
12 jurers set sail that day for a three month tour. A three month tour.
Come on Max, don't be a posting snob. I don't know how the trial will go but I predict you are going to be a popular guy this morning.
I noticed how small that boat was. It was not exactly the type of vessel one could discretely dispose of a body. I had been undr the assumption that since it was the bay, it was a much larger boat. Not that I've followed this case enough to imply innocence or guilt by my observation, but it does seem that a smart man would not use that boat to dump his wife in the bay. Every boat near him could see everything in it, and it was so small that that would be a real risk.
Jurors Tell Judge They May Be Unable To Reach Verdict
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- In a sign of possible discord in the jury room, the judge in Scott Peterson's murder case lectured the panel Monday about the importance of deliberating with an open mind.
Judge Alfred A. Delucchi summoned jurors to the courtroom just an hour and half after they resumed deliberations. They got the case Wednesday afternoon and spent the weekend sequestered in a hotel after deliberating through Friday.
"It is rarely helpful for a juror at the beginning of deliberations to express an emphatic opinion on the case."......

Peterson Jurors Are Possibly Divided
Judge Denies Mistrial Request

People who get all worked up over this case are not very intelligent, IMHO.
It's news. Trials by jury are part of our political process and we've got some dolts evidently holding this one hostage. (I'll retract my "dolts" comment if they come up with a guilty verdict.)
The victim is very cute. The accused is handsome in a sinister way. Therefore, all in the nation must be forced to care.
You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
I can't believe (well, I can) this jury seems on track to hanging.
Maybe they'll reach a verdict, but after yesterday's boat business I became concerned.
