Jurors turn focus to Scott Peterson's fishing boat

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Jurors in Scott Peterson's capital murder trial want to see the boat the fertilizer salesman allegedly used to dump his wife's body in the San Francisco Bay, according to two sources close to the case.

The panel wrote a note to Judge Alfred Delucchi Friday requesting an inspection of the 14-foot aluminum Gamefisher Peterson took out on the bay Dec. 24, 2002, the day he reported his wife, Laci, missing.

The sources confirmed to Court TV that the boat will be brought to the courthouse and jurors will see it Monday.

The request to see the boat came as the panel completed a third day of deliberations without reaching a verdict. The six men and six women have weighed evidence for nearly 19 hours. They will spend the weekend sequestered at a hotel, but they are not permitted to discuss the case until they return to the jury room at about 8 a.m. Monday.

Story continues ........

During the Prosecutors main Closing Arguments. A girl from WS actually phoned his office and notified his staff and the girl answering the phone said "Oh my goodness, thank you, I will see that the Judge gets that message"!! PLUS several of us emailed him.!! This is bullcrap!!

Court TV reporter guy (sorry, I don't watch enough to know his name offhand, though I've seen him before) says the activity that is not happening that usually does when a verdict is coming down is court staff and extra bailiffs.

They seem to anticipate what we fear.

However Catherine whatshername points out we have no reports that a juror was brought into chambers to discuss any problems with the judge as would be expected to occur.

Now guy reporters says the Rocha family is not in the courtroom--just the extra family. The rest are on the way from his understanding (one would not expect extra bailiffs and the like in the room yet, then, is my thought---keeping hope alive that this is a verdict).

Your screen name sums up my mood. Doubtful it's a verdict as the usual suspects, when a verdict is rendered, are not present, so says Vinny Politan. Wonder if Snot was also behind closed doors in Chambers with attorneys and judge. If so, we're probably going to hear mistrial or, I pray, the juror was dismissed and will be replaced.

Good question. I would guess it would be lifted - this particular trial would be over.
Would assume Scaught would be transferred back here to Stanislaus County while new indictment would be filed and the proceeding would start all over again.

this is more nerve wracking than last week at 6:30

I'm STILL recuperating from that stress.

Ah, per Court TV reporter guy, attorneys in the courtroom and Scott Peterson smiled at his lawyers.

I have to leave in an hour so I hope whatever this is happens soon.

Lisa Bloom saying that there was suppose to be a two hour notice to the press if there was a verdict; she thinks they are hung.

Lisa Bloom believes it's a hung jury or mistrial, leaning toward hung jury.

I still believe even if it's a mistrial, that he can legally be retried!! If someone was up to no good in the Jury wouldn't this have surfaced before now??? I'm going nuts actually!! IF Peterson walked I think I'd lose it - That would be the worst travesty of Justice I have seen since that OJ abomination!!

He can be retried if it's a hung jury.
