This is breaking. A high speed chase around Sierra Vista and on to Ft. Huachuca has resulted in 7 deaths and 14 injuries.
A stolen car with 5 people inside led police on a high speed chase along the Highway 90 bypass and on to Ft. Huachuca at speeds in excess of 100MPH.
The stolen vehicle hit new barricades at the East Gate Checkpoint and crossed over the median, striking an outbound vehicle.
4 people in the stolen car have died, and 3 other people are also dead. 14 people are injured.
There are no further details regarding the 3 dead or the injured. As the story develops, I will try to post more.

What the police need to deal with these chases are armed helicopters. A machine-gun burst of 7.62 or .50 cal into the hood of a stolen car will end the chase real fast. It will also make the people in the passenger compartment less likely to give the arresting officers a hard time
The cops chased down and caused the death of that football player right near where I live. They ought to just stop these high speed chases, they are so dangerous.
When I was in high school 5 of my school mates were killed when they crashed running from the police for no apparent reason.

These chases are absolutely nutty.
Let the bad guys get away... good idea... what if the police knew the perps had just shot up a class of 3rd graders. "OH! don't want to cause a crash, better lettem' go"

NO, the football player should have had the presence of mind and brains enough to stop. Parents need to teach their children how to respond the police effectively and safely.

The liberal media rant and rave about how police chases kill people too often - (Most often the chased person - but this time innocents as well).
The result of not chaseing is more chases, and more and more of these have to be followed thru to completion.
ALL of these could be stopped instantly, and police chases ended permanantly by one simple move:
If You don't stop in one mile, then deadly force is REQUIRED, not optional, REQUIRED. LAWS Rockets, laser guided munitions, what ever it takes.
Its time to use the military technology we spent millions on to stop every low-life from killing innocent bystanders.

That's whay I'm thinking, but no details yet.
So, just let the criminals get away? I guarantee you the day the police adopt a "no chase" policy is the day EVERY criminal behind the wheel will decide to run. After all, if they're not going to be chased, what do they have to lose?
Put the onus for these tragedies where it belongs: on the criminals who choose to run, not the police.

Those personnel in the stolen car couldn't have been local. Everyone around here knows the gates have been fortified, and running them is impossible. Four of the five died from being dumb. Unfortunately, they took innocents with them.
Bull! That football player CHOSE death.
His car is equipped with brakes. He chose not to use them.
