What the police need to deal with these chases are armed helicopters. A machine-gun burst of 7.62 or .50 cal into the hood of a stolen car will end the chase real fast. It will also make the people in the passenger compartment less likely to give the arresting officers a hard time

No, no, no. Airborne weapons are too inaccurate. The last thing you want is for the LAPD to have Apaches.

The slip-and-fall lawyers would have a field day with the first stray round to injure a bystander.
