Let the bad guys get away... good idea... what if the police knew the perps had just shot up a class of 3rd graders. "OH! don't want to cause a crash, better lettem' go"

The football player was on the Thruway, the only way off is through exits. The cops could have gotten his license plate number and picked him up when he got off the exit after he had cooled down. The cops caused him to get burned alive and could have killed any number of other people on the Thruway that day. The whole situation was ridiculous.

Yeah, after all, what are a few more deaths, right? Collateral damage. < /sarcasm >

I am sure the innocent people killed during the chase wouldn't mind dying in a situation like that. Their friends and family will understand that since 3rd graders had been shot, their son or daughters life doesn't matter. </sarcasm

I don't think anyone wants criminals to get away, but once a description is known, it is hard to outrace a radio. We require our police officers to use good judgement. If the chase is taking place in a dangerous location, patience and determination should replace reckless brute force. No circumstances ever warrant risking innocent lives.
