I agree - Bush is responsible for allowing this to continue. I am sick and tired that our party does nothing while we are overrun with illegals - regardless of their intent.

The fact of the matter is that Bush is NOT doing enough. Kerry would do nothing, granted. But Bush needs to do more. People's lives depend upon it.

I agree. I'm still voting for Bush, warts and all. I look at it this way: As a parent, I am imperfect but I do the best job that I can. Bush loves his country like I love my kids. I think with some prodding, Bush could see that most of us are in favor of a more vigorous border protection plan. We cannot absorb any more legal immigrants at the present time. This needs to be addressed, also.

Islam is bringing the war to us, and it's time to step up. The best homeland security is a rifle in every home.

Well, if we had the entire military there, I'd wager we could. That's about what it would take, though.

That's about what you'd need. And that would include every sailor and airman. Care to guess what retention would be after telling a silo-sitter in Montana, "You're humping a pack for the rest of your enlistment?" We'd have to have permanent stop-loss orders and a draft!

Call me what you want, but your argument does not hold water and most people reading this know it. I hold nothing against you personally, but this is a PUBLIC issue and the PUBLIC SAFETY of America is dependent upon getting this right. And, unfortunately, you are wrong.

You said that unless I am willing to volunteer for the DHS, I should be quiet. That is tantamount to saying that unless one is in the government, one should shut up and support the government.

Your defensiveness about this betrays the fact that I am right.

Rose of Sharon is correct, we should not expose Bush on this so that he can have a better chance of winning the election. That is sensible. But, here on FR, we can speak openly with each other and the truth is that we have not taken off the gloves yet in this war. And I suspect that we will not until another terrorist attack

My simple point is that we should not wait for another attack. We all know that Bush will respond with more vigor to another attack. But why do we have to wait for more Americans to die?

Most of those who are reading this know in their hearts that I am right about this and you are wrong. However, being right or wrong does not matter. What matters is doing the best to prevent another atrocity. Just because a solution does not stop the problem, does not mean that we shouldn't do all we can. You are making the perfect the enemy of the good.

This discussion is serious business because we are in a war.

Another advantage to a Bush win, would be for us to capitalize on that win, and face the issue of the NY elite media, being liberal political organizations.

I believe the only way to defeat their influence is to demand that our Reps in gov absolutely refuse to cater to, be influence by, speak to, explain to, refuse to appear on all network news programs, or respond to the NYT editorial page.

Republicans, Conservatives, and Libertarians have let the elites in NY push them around for 30 years. They make decisions according to their news coverage.

Our Reps should heavily concentrate on local and state media explaining and defending their positions, and speak to their individual constituents more regularly. All cities have major local morning shows, that would love to have extended conversations with their reps. Also our federal reps could begin to explain to their grassroots the advantage of local and state spending programs, vs. federal.

The ABC memo was a deliberate challenge to us, it was in-your-face, it was meant to say "we can defeat you".

I say let's put them away, so we can have a fair fight on immigration and border control, and demand less social spending.

When I first heard this I was so angry! What the helk are we doing in Iraq when our own borders are not secured? Knowing that our government has failed to stop illegal crossings here at home - even after 9/11, makes me question more than ever whether we should have gone into Iraq when we did.

Jeff, the terrorists are not idiots. They're most likely using these other avenues already, simply because the probability of interception is significantly lower. And Canada, unlike Mexico, is willing to give them free money.

They sure aren't idiots. They're anything but idiots. In a slightly earlier post, I pointed out that Mexico and Canada are not our friends. Look at how France and Germany treat us. Canada is in the same ballpark. Mexico is a corrupt peonage. I wish the "peasants" could change their government, and make a better life for themselves in their own country. Now they're mingling with ME terrorists. Just great...

We can do both. We are in a fight for our survival that is in many ways more dangeroust than that which we faced in WWII. The sooner we realize this, the better.

Call me what you want

OK, I will. You are a liar and a coward.

but your argument does not hold water and most people reading this know it.

And "lurkers support me in email".

I hold nothing against you personally, but this is a PUBLIC issue and the PUBLIC SAFETY of America is dependent upon getting this right.

Just because we are at war doesn't give you the right to put words in my mouth and attribute statements to me that I never posted.

You said that unless I am willing to volunteer for the DHS, I should be quiet.

I did not say that. You are a liar.

That is tantamount to saying that unless one is in the government, one should shut up and support the government.

No it isn't.

Your defensiveness about this betrays the fact that I am right.

My "defensiveness" about this betrays only the fact that you are telling lies about me and misattributing statements to me that I never made.

You are a liar.

But, here on FR, we can speak openly with each other and the truth is that we have not taken off the gloves yet in this war. And I suspect that we will not until another terrorist attack

Speaking openly does not equate to lying, as you have done.

Most of those who are reading this know in their hearts that I am right about this and you are wrong.

"Lurkers support me in email" again. Keep telling yourself that.

However, being right or wrong does not matter.

It does to me.

This discussion is serious business because we are in a war.

Yes it is. Please do not pollute it further by continuing to lie about my statements.

I have nothing further to discuss with you. Do not post to me again. Good day.

How big of a fool do you have to be to not lock down our borders, especially after 9/11? Who should be held accountable for our porous borders, John Wayne? No, I think President Bush has absolutely failed on this issue.

This was a leak to influence the public ahead of the debate.

To get the Pres base worked up into believing Kerry and his NY elite media would protect us better.

Uh-huh. A plot perpetrated by the leftist cabal at the Washington Times and that commie pinko Bill Gertz. < /sarcasm.>

All the government would have to do is place a bounty of say $500 a head or so and stipulate that the subjects had to be delivered alive and in reasonable health at processing centers located along the borders.

Such a system would last as long as it took some wannabee bounty-hunter yahoo to kill an unarmed illegal. Then, all hell would break loose and anyone who was in favor of real-world solutions to the illegal problem would be painted with the same brush.

So the plan is that we cheer Bush on through November 2nd and after that we cry foul over the immigration issue?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

What does a Chechen look like? White, black, Arab,Asian, what?

Real Chechens? Pretty much like any other white guy. They're the ideal terrorists since, to the average American, they can pass themselves off as Russian, Polish, Czech, Ukrainian etc.
