Short for Zonja. Her Mom wanted "Sonya". Bill had other ideas. While Mom was in recovery, he went back out and had them change the S to a Z and the Y to a J. I think its gorgeous.
"I think I might have to write this down...
there's no way I'll be able to remember this
for another whole year, before my first legal drink."
It may all come back to you, unbidden, just at the exact time you need to recall it! :-)
Had my first full beer when I was 12. Grandpa gave it to me. Heiniken. To this day I still can't stand the stuff. But I drank the whole thing like a real man that day.
They can't argue with your ID! I used to be mistaken for my Dad's "trophy wife" when we went to the Officers' Club after work! ("I thought your wife's name was Pat? Oh, never mind!")
My parents are conservatives & christians, so they
do care about legal. Drinking is looked down upon.
I'll ask, if I can remember the question that long.
We're Conservatives and Christians, too :-). Our Lord drank wine on the High Holy Days from the age of 13.
I have no ID. My mom took me for my state
ID just a few days ago, the only reason being
I was nearly unable to vote for lack of ID.

It is much more "poetic" to read as 'Zonja' than 'Sonya'. I think you should give your next daughter the same name, either as a first or a middle...it has that "old world" flavor to it and it is pretty enough to pass on. :-)
[But then, I am often up in the night, as well...]
That's charming ... I'd love to have a "Z" baby. I suggested "Zerelda" once (Jesse James' wife) but it didn't fly. My husband got very careful when I wanted to name our oldest "Lee Atwater." He died the day after she was born!
Yes, well. That was back then, things were different.
You'll have a good ID in a couple of years. Alcohol is bad for you, anyway.
In Europe, it is common for teens to drink beer or wine. One of the reasons is that the water is so bad unless it has been processed. The other reasons, of course, are because it has always been so.
They are taught moderation from an early age, so it is accepted.
With my first initial and her first initial, we are the Alpha and the Omega. I kinda like that...
In excess yes. Other than that, in moderation it is actually quite good for you. If all else fails, I'm almost certain that alcohol has played an important role in the contituation of our species. ;-)
Alcohol, either in beer or in wine, is good for you. When we were in Germany, there was an article in Star & Stripes that said wine was good for the digestive system, among other things. It has been prescribed as a natural tranquilizer for centuries, and it also helps the thought processes to work the way they should.
I think "man" puts too much stock in modern "remedies" with all their side-effects, but don't have enough faith in the things that have allowed mankind to live for millenia. </end of rant>
WOW! I saw that earlier, but I had never put it together that way! COOL!!
I was making a joke :-).
Darkchylde can help squash the grapes for our wine-making. By the time she's old enough to partake, she will be fully knowledgeable about alcoholic products, and can make informed decisions.
And in the meantime, she can improve the lot in life of many thirsty people.
"I was making a joke :-)."
There is too much evidence on the subject to allow for levity!
*snort!*
It's OK...even jokes have a basis in truth, however remote...:-)
