A Message To Conservatives: "Your Silence About Rush Limbaugh Is Deafening."

A NOTE TO MY FELLOW CONSERVATIVES:

Your silence regarding Rush Limbaugh is excruciating.

I like Rush, too, and given that he and I have the same employer, I'm not exactly improving my career prospects by being consistent. It's a bad habit I picked up after years of listening to, and admiring, Rush Limbaugh.

And if we learned the lessons of Limbaugh (individual responsibility and the rule of law), how can we now agree to "Clintonize" ourselves defending him? A drug addiction is one thing, but blackmail? He's allowed himself to be blackmailed for years--the same years he was rightly pounding the stuffing out of the Clintons? And now he claims he's the victim of a politically-motivated prosecution?

What's next: "The b**** set me up?"

Of all the disappointing decisions Rush has made, these last two are the most disheartening. Consider for a moment what blackmail is: An admission that you know what you're doing is wrong.

The decision to fork over the cash is just that--a decision. It can't be any less difficult to make that decision than to decide to, say, go to your lawyer, spill your guts and spend a month in detox at Charter. So why not choose to do the RIGHT thing?

But that's not what Rush chose to do. He chose instead to continue, for years, to do the wrong thing and then--after he was caught--blame the consequences on the vast, left-wing conspiracy. As Rush himself said very wisely and correctly when Jim Carville made the same argument defending President O.J., "It doesn't matter what Ken Starr's politics are if you're innocent."

Bill Clinton wasn't an innocent victim of political vendettas. He was a perjurer and obstructer of justice who blamed others for his own lack of character and its consequences.

Which means, my fellow conservatives, that Rush Limbaugh is....?

I'm sorry, I can't seem to hear you. It must be that deafening silence again.

The Clintons were blackmailing people[ in which jurisdiction were they tried and convicted?] - Rush was being blackmailed - somehow this a morally equivalent thing? There is no equivalence here whatsoever, rush was paying someone off and the clintons never spent time in jail.

Unlike Clinton, Rush admitted his short-comings and sought help.

Only after his "short-comings" were about to be exposed.

I think you have managed to redefine the concept of "obstruction of justice".

Right, whereas when Clinton's "short-comings" were about to be exposed, he merely quibbled over the definitions of the words "sexual relations" and "is".

Clinton admitted he made mistakes, he counselled with a number of clerics

Oh only about 8 months after pointing his finger at me and saying he didn't have sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky, with Hillary by his side.

Whew RWG, you guys in the DNC basement are really sweating this aren't you.

There are only 4 doctors listed in Rush's files. Two of them are associated together in a joint clinic, the third was a fill-in when one of the two regulars took some time off.

This is clearly a SALEM WITCH HUNT, and the prosecutors will be severely embarrased before it is all over. There is nothing being done about the extortionists who black mailed Rush either which clearly exibits a double standard.

There's been yet another set back. The judge has ruled that his medical records will remain sealed while his lawyers work on their appeal.

Merry Christmas.

A debate dealing in proportion and context is totally foreign to Liberals...

Rush medicated for personal physical pain; Arkansas Governor Bubba and his brother coked-up for recreation, and for baiting broads for diddling.

I think Bob Tyrell and 'American Spectator', and a slew of witnesses can back that second fact up -- IF they're still alive...

An excellent article that shows the high degree of hypocrisy in those who claim to be "conservative."

Huh, I surmise you think pointing your finger and outright lying(Clinton's intial remarks about Lewinsky) is "conservative".

Remember all the posts stating the Inquirer article was bogus and Rush would eventually come out and say he is not now nor has he ever been addicted to drugs. That he was only "biding" his time to let the papers further libel and slander him for he could really "sue their pants off."

Remember?

Neil Boortz put out a (libetarian) challenge to listeners to name one person who was harmed by Rush.
President Bush should simultaneously pardon Limbaugh and Tommy Chong.

I agree with you about the Witch Hunt. It's so obvious the prosecutors should be embarrassed NOW. They do not, however, have consciences or ethics.

I'm not exactly sure what Michael Graham was driving at in the article. I see no double standard here regarding Rush & Bill Clinton on the part of conservatives.

How about all of those kids I heard calling the show during summer and holiday breaks from school? They come away from this thinking that adults are liars, conservative adults are liars, conservative celebrities are liars. Omission is just as much a lie as outright deceit.

Worth repeating.

One of those liberal rantings about substance abuse being a disease. No it is not. It is a behavioral problem. There can develop physical problems with the chronic consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and other substances but these processes arose after the behavioral problem of choosing to hide in a drug stupor was already well established.

Drunk driving should not be a felony, it is a problem for medicare.

I think he will know my heart and faith regarding accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord.

Jesus said that loving one's neighbor as thyself was the whole of the law. And like Paine, he also talked about how we should treat our enemies. Many other philosophers and regular people have said similar things.

Hey, your words not mine my fine man.

I said that it would be what Paine was talking about that would be the issue at the Final Judgement. Whether Paine believed it, or Jesus said it, isn't going to be the issue. Jesus said that we would know who his disciples are because they love one another, not because they cite Jesus or Paine. The issue is whether you repent to your victims, not which philosopher convinced you to do it.

And, Merry Christmas to you too!

A Merry Christmas to you and yours also, CWO.

The records have been opened to the demo hack Palm Beach prosecutor for about 16 hours. Enough time for them to be faxed to the media and they have all weekend to spin anyway they want.

My prediction, CNN around Monday, will have a new "story".

So far as I've been able to tell, Rush has admitted to an addiction problem and sought treatment. The rest of this is still unproven allegation. If you have iron-clad evidence, then let's hear it. Otherwise, kindly shut your pie-hole regarding things you can only speculate about (or at least admit that it's just speculation and not act like it's a proven fact).

I am not saying the Rush is Clinton. I'm saying, we should not fall into the trap of defending someone simply b/c he/she is conservative. I do not know, and neither do you, the facts in this case. I do know Rush is accused of breaking the law. If this is true, he should be prosecuted the same as anyone else. Now, if others committing the same crime do not usually get prosecuted, that is fine, but I don't think we should jump to his defense simply b/c he is conservative. At best, it is hypocritical. At worst, it is a sell-out of beliefs and values.
