I’ve been challenged a few times on this blog to defend myself as a “libertarian”. Here’s a quick and incomplete statement of principles that I use to fit myself into that pigeonhole. As a “Jack Libertarian” I’m guessing that I’m in the minority of citizens of the state of Oregon, but I don’t really understand why. It’s probably the case that most people would rather let the experts (preachers, doctors, advertisers, talk show hosts, Ph.Ds, country music stars, gummint bureaucrats, etcetera) make their choices rather than listening to them and making our own choices. Small “L” libertarians are people that...

Today’s NON-event in Congress has caused MASS demoralization in DUmmieland. Instead of some congressional uprising against the Ohio vote, there was a massive YAWN in both congress and in the media. All the handful of congressional loonies and Barbara Boxer accomplished was to put up a minor speedbump on the road to the inevitable result of Bush’s official notification of victory. No protests, little media coverage, and even less public interest. In fact, the vast majority of the public are completely unaware of the minor speedbump thrown up today. And the few who are aware of it, now look...

Something to Yak About – Calling Joe WilsonAnd no, we’re not talking about the Gentleman from South Carolina here, we’re talking about disgraced Kerry henchman Joe Wilson, whose mug was virtually ubiquitous on the talking head circuit when he was accusing the president and most of his administration of all kinds of malfeasance regarding pre-war Iraq intelligence. But now that Joe’s been exposed as a liar, he’s somewhere deep in the tall grass. Try this on for size – Google ‘Joe Wilson’ and ‘Niger,’ and see how many current news items return. It’s fun for the entire family! When a...

Something to Yak About – Gears Grind to Halt in Great Democrat Disinformation MachineHow many times have we heard various and sundry members of John Kerry’s Coalition of the Wild-Eyed level baseless charges about the president and other people in the administration not being straight about intelligence on Iraq? Now, official non-partisan reports on both sides of the Atlantic show that all use of intelligence by the Bush administration and Tony Blair’s UK government totally did the right thing all along! The Wall Street Journal also noted, “The political goal was to portray the President as a ‘liar,’ regardless of...

The traditional strength of American politics is that the two-party system encourages moderation by effectively marginalizing lunatics on both ends of the ideological spectrum. Republicans don't need to court twitchy backwoods militia types hankering for a return to legalized segregation, and Democrats don't need to get in bed with fist-pumping café revolutionaries who insist that every black man behind bars in the United States is a political prisoner. But that tradition is now in jeopardy. For in its desperation to elect John Kerry president this November, the Democratic hierarchy is busy cobbling together what the Bush campaign recently, and accurately,...

(CNSNews.com) - The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry is criticizing President Bush for featuring Nazi images in an ad on his official reelection campaign website, but the images in question come from an ad featured on the website of liberal advocacy group. Phil Singer, spokesman for the Kerry campaign, said using Nazi images is "simply wrong"" by any campaign, politician or party. He said it's not only insensitive but diminishes Bush's credibility as president. "The fact that George Bush thinks it's appropriate to use images of Adolf Hitler in his campaign raises serious questions about his fitness...

The Bush campaign has come out with a bad ad. It's on the Web. It's called "Kerry's Coalition of the Wild-Eyed." It runs a montage of various Democrats (plus Michael Moore) in full-blown rants, veins popping out of their necks, about George W. Bush. It also runs clips from an ad submitted to a contest at Moveon.org-the Web "movement" dedicated to helping the Democrats whenever and wherever possible. The contest asked members and other sympathetic parties for anti-Bush ads. One of them featured comparisons of Bush to Hitler. The Bushies took clips of Hitler from that ad and spliced them...

A NEW LOW: It seems to me that the far left could help win this election for Bush. Here's the latest obscenity. It was an ad on the back-page of the Nation this week. Do they have no shame? (Hat tip: Petrelis.)

Last Friday in my email box I received the first bit of encouragement from the Bush Campaign in a while. Thus far, the campaign has not been all that effective in attacking John Kerry. Yes, they have run a lot of attack ads that have had some success in driving up Kerry's negatives. But so far they've been using a bow and arrow when a rifle is nearby. Now, however, it seems that the guns are about to be blazing. The email provided me with a link to a new Bush video, and it is outstanding. Titled "Kerry's Coalition of...

In a private conversation on the Senate floor last week, Vice President Dick Cheney hurled the "F-word" at Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., an intemperate critic. Cheney wouldn't repent. "I expressed myself rather forcefully," he said. "Felt better after I had done it." You can hardly blame him. As Iraq has moved closer to democracy over the past few weeks, the terrorist opponents of sovereignty, as expected, have grown more desperate and more violent in their counterinsurgency. A similar pattern has occurred in the United States. As Republicans have moved closer to consolidating power in all three branches of government, Democratic...

Der Furor Bush plays the Nazi card. By William Saletan and Jacob Weisberg Posted Monday, June 28, 2004, at 4:13 PM PT Chill, dude "Kerry's Coalition of the Wild-eyed" was produced for the Bush campaign by Maverick Media. To watch the video on the Bush campaign Web site, click here. For a script, click here. From: William Saletan To: Jacob Weisberg Where to begin with this despicable video? Six months ago, MoveOn.org held a contest to find the best amateur ad against President Bush. The group invited people to make ads and submit them to its Web site. Some idiot...

Something to Yak About – Turnabout Strikes Nerve at Kerry Campaign; Silence Turned to Shrieks Over New Web Ad Well!Seems folks at the John Kerry campaign, which was oh so mute about six months back when their pals at Move On Dot Org were running web videos comparing the president to Adolf Hitler, now have their knickers in a collective twist over a Bush-Cheney web video that uses Move On-posted video images to illustrate the kind of people backing Kerry’s bid for the White House – the Coalition of the Wild Eyed, as it were. Good Point, Ken The same...

President Bush's re-election campaign is ridiculing what it calls "John Kerry's coalition of the wild-eyed," which includes filmmaker Michael Moore and former Vice President Al Gore. The campaign has compiled a collection of video clips featuring angry Democrats and over-the-top ads by MoveOn.org, a liberal advocacy group, to showcase what it calls the "rage" of the left.

On Thursday, the campaign launched a web video titled Kerry's Coalition of the Wild-eyed. The video featured Democrats who support John Kerry making negative and baseless attacks against the President. Interspersed in the video were segments of two ads that appeared on a website sponsored by MoveOn.org - a group campaigning for Kerry - in January. On Friday night, John Kerry's campaign denounced our use of these ads, and called that use "disgusting." The Kerry campaign says, "The use of Adolf Hitler by any campaign, politician or party is simply wrong." We agree. These ads, like much of the hate-filled,...

It was hard not to laugh at the Kerry campaign yesterday. Following the Bush campaign's release of the web video "Kerry's Coalition of the Wild-eyed" Kerry campaign spokesman released the following statement: “The fact that George Bush thinks it’s appropriate to use images of Adolph Hitler in his campaign raises serious questions about his fitness to spend another four years in the White House. Adolph Hitler slaughtered millions of innocent people and has no place in a campaign that is supposed to be about the future and hope of this nation. The President’s use of these images during a month...

A recent controversial add posted on the George W. Bush website has drawn the ire of Democrats, especially the Kerry campaign. Why? It quotes prominent Democrats and Democrat sponsored organizations using some of the most hateful, unhinged rhetoric known to man in criticism of the Bush administration. The add shows rants by various Democrats such as Al Gore and Dick Gephardt. The add also shows bits of a MoveOn.org sponsored piece that compares George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler. The Democrat response has been to use the lawyerly trick of twisting the evidence into a story that puts them in...

Hitler Image Used in Bush Campaign Web Ad JENNIFER C. KERR Associated Press WASHINGTON - Adolf Hitler's image has surfaced again in the White House race. President Bush's campaign contains online video, removed from a liberal group's Web site months ago and disavowed, that features the Nazi dictator. The Bush Internet video, which was sent electronically to 6 million supporters, intersperses clips of speeches by Democrats John Kerry, Al Gore and Howard Dean with the footage of Hitler. Democrats want the video pulled from the site. Campaign aides said it would remain. Republicans had criticized the group MoveOn.org in January...

ELECTION 2004 'Kerry wants Bush apology for 'Hitler ad' But footage came from MoveOn.org piece blasting president Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign is calling on President Bush to apologize for using images of Adolf Hitler in an Internet ad on the Bush-Cheney 2004 website. MoveOn.org TV ad calling on Congress to censure the president for allegedly lying about Iraq. The images, however, originally came from a TV ad posted online by a Democrat party ally, MoveOn.org, which likened President Bush to the Nazi dictator, points out Bush campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt. Schmidt told WorldNetDaily he considers the call for an...
