Rep. Maxine Waters, who is leading a probe into President Donald Trump's finances, wants Trump's nonprofit foundation to be the Democrats' next target because of tax evasion concerns. The House Financial Services Committee chairwoman hinted to reporters on Thursday that she may even have a lead in the form of a letter "from somebody who told me about a situation that they want to talk with me more about.” Trump agreed to shut down his personal charity in December following a lawsuit brought by the New York attorney general that alleged the president and his children used the foundation for...

And when we get a job it’s not worth going to work every day because of the pay that is offered to us,’” she told the audience at the Rainbow Coalition Wall Street Project Economic Summit at the Sheraton Hotel in Midtown. The Trump administration on Tuesday began the process of formally rescinding the highly controversial “Waters of the U.S.” rule, an Obama-era regulation that gave Washington broad powers over streams and other small bodies of water across the country. The rule, put forth in 2015 but subsequently stayed by the Supreme Court before going into effect, was one of EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s top targets when he took the helm at the agency. President Trump earlier this year signed an executive order directing Mr. Pruitt to review the rule, and with Tuesday’s action, the EPA says it’s finalized that review and...

House Democrats have a plethora of initiatives in the new Congress. One of the top priorities for the Congressional Black Caucus and incoming Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters is corporate boardroom diversity. Waters proposed creating a House subcommittee on diversity and inclusion that would force companies to quantify their board members by race and gender. By targeting publicly traded companies, this creates a vacuum that would ultimately harm employees of all racial and economic backgrounds, especially the further down the chain you go. The government should foster diversity through individual success, not through federal coercion. You can hear it...

Last month, a Jewish organisation in Argentina launched a petition urging people across the region to boycott Roger Waters concerts and calling the former Pink Floyd leader "one of the great anti-Semites of our time". **SNIP** He noted that Waters was the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation in 2010 over a meeting she arranged between the Treasury Department and representatives of OneUnited bank, where her husband was a notable shareholder. OneUnited went on to obtain $12 million in federal bailout funding. The ethics charges against Waters were dropped in 2012. "By the time Maxine Waters scheduled the meeting with the Treasury secretary, her husband owned approximately $350,000 in OneUnited stock, all of which would have likely gone down the drain without the bailout money she helped secure," Hilton said. "How lovely for Maxine...
