Backlash is growing for the CEO of Sam's Club after she discussed her dislike for dealing with white men on CNN. BPR reported Sunday that the company's black, female CEO Rosalind Brewer planned to call a supplier she met with because she was disgusted that his management staff was filled with all white males. It was more important to Ms. Brewer that a staff be racially and gender diverse rather than the best people be picked for their jobs. A practice she admitted to CNN's Poppy Harlow she practices herself. The president and CEO of WalMart Stores Inc., who owns...

Nobody argues against the fact that there needs to be diversity at the top of large companies, but the Left is pushing for over-representation of minorities, and they make no bones about it. Sam's Club CEO Rosalind Brewer told CNN how she deals with the white patriarchy. “Just today we met with a supplier and the entire other side of the table was all Caucasian males.â€Â She went on to say how “there were actually no females, like, levels down†in the company. She vowed to “place a call†to the CEO. Brewer said that it has to start at the top, adding that...

Economy: In the latest swipe at Wal-Mart, a new report suggests the retail giant has cost the U.S. 400,000 jobs due to purchases from China. In the bigger picture, this statistic is misleading and meaningless. The New York Times sums up the "study" nicely: "Imports from China by Wal-Mart, the nation's largest retailer and biggest importer, eliminated or displaced over 400,000 jobs in the United States between 2001 and 2013, according to an estimate by the Economic Policy Institute, a progressive research group that has long targeted Wal-Mart's policies." As the Times itself seems to suggest, this study is really...

Early Saturday morning two “foreign speaking†men set off alarms after they entered the local Walmart store in Lebanon, Missouri and purchased 60 cellphones. The purchase was made around 4 AM in the morning. Police were called but released the men saying they didn’t have a legal reason to detain them. Now this… The Macon County Sheriff’s office is investigating a second suspicious purchase of dozens of cellphones at the Columbia Walmart on Conley Road. ABC 17 reported: “ ABC 17 News learned Wednesday night that the Macon County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a suspicious purchase of multiple cell phones...

Walmart (WMT) is suing the island over what the company calls an "onerous and unconstitutional" tax increase. It's such a dramatic hike that Walmart estimates now it will have to pay 91.5% of its net income in Puerto Rico in taxes. That's about three times what Walmart pays, on average, in taxes elsewhere. ... The hike only applies to big companies with revenues over $2.75 billion a year.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Wal-Mart's Puerto Rico operation is asking the federal court in San Juan to void what it calls an "onerous" and "unconstitutional" tax that unfairly targets the U.S. retail giant. It said in court papers filed Friday that the increased levy on purchases from U.S.-based Wal-Mart distribution centers by its island entities constitutes one of the world's highest taxes and pushes its effective tax rate to 91.5 percent of net income. The tax increase will cost Wal-Mart $155 million over six years and make its Puerto Rico business unsustainable. The suit says that Puerto Rico's...

A WalMart in North Dallas, Texas, just off the George W. Bush freeway and Marsh rd, consistently had 5 cent .22 ammunition when I visited my Daughter in October. When I checked in late November, there wasn’t any more on the shelves. I was disappointed, and believed that the .22 bubble was re-inflating. I was gone for a couple of days, but checked out the display again on 29 November. In October, a WalMart employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told me that the same people came in when .22 bulk packs were available and bought them all up. They...

Walmart workers were scarce at the much-hyped Black Friday protests against the retailer's wages and employment policies. Even protesters who didn't work at the stores were hard to find. An estimated 50 people showed up at a store in East Green Brush, N.Y., to protest the firing of Walmart employee Thomas Smith earlier this month. Thomas was allegedly let go for redeeming $2 worth of cans and bottles left behind in a shopping cart. Walmart said he was fired because Smith had failed to disclose his prior criminal history when he was hired, a claim Thomas disputed. A group of...

Tis the season, once again upon us, when an age old tradition returns to cities and towns across the nation. I don’t mean the usual Thanksgiving feasts of yesterday or even the commercial mayhem of Black Friday. We’re talking about the annual protests of Walmart by their beleaguered workers who want a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and, much more to the point, official union representation. The OurWalmart campaign was back at it as usual, preparing to disrupt holiday shopping plans for the masses who prepare to launch into the Christmas giving season. But who are these protesters, really?...

Your trip to the mall could leave you with a shopping injury. A new study shows Alabama is one of the most dangerous states for Black Friday shopping. The blog Estately ranks our state as the third most dangerous for Black Friday shoppers. Arkansas is ranked number one, followed by Tennessee at number 2. Louisiana and Missouri round out the top 5.

No surprise here. The Organization United for Respect at Walmart (OUR Walmart) is planning their annual Black Friday strike at Walmart centers around the country with a twist. This year, more than 100 Walmart workers plan to fast for 15 days prior to protesting on Friday, in what's sure to be an interesting PR stunt, but what's dramatically different this year is that it's unclear who is captaining the ship. OUR Walmart has been in disarray for months, torn apart by internal bickering and conflicting leadership. Originally, OUR Walmart was established by the United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW)...

Wal Mart pulled an Israeli soldier costume and a “Sheik Fagin†prosthetic nose, after facing a backlash from social media. The products reportedly were removed from the company’s website and from store shelves on Tuesday afternoon, hours after the American-Arab Anti-Discriminatory Committee called on Walmart and other retailers to remove the products as well as others deemed anti-Arab. The committee, known as the ADC, was joined in its call by joined by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR; and the US Palestinian Community Network, or USPCN. “The Israeli forces are a symbol of violence and fear for Palestinians living...

Walmart have sparked outrage by selling an children’s Halloween costume of an Israeli soldier. The US retailer is selling the costume for $27.44 (£17.89), and it comes complete with a toy Uzi machine gun. Several people have taken to Walmart’s website to condemn the costume in the reviews. One review, titled ‘Costume of the Chosen Apartieid Army’, reads: ‘Your little one can now go to his friend’s house, and take over their bedroom, and all of their toys and claim that God has given him/her the right to take it. ‘If the friend refuses, your little IDF soldier can respond...

(KLFY) — Acadia Parish, La. residents have mixed emotions about a photo featuring two educators at a costume party earlier this month. Iota Middle School Principal Lee Ann Wall and her husband Jeptha Wall, who is a coach at Crowley High School, appear in the image. Their costumes are described as “People of Walmart.” Jeptha can be seen wearing a red bandana around his waist with a gun tucked into his belt and money coming out of his pocket. In front of Lee Ann is a basket full of black and white baby dolls and sign that read, “You wait...

Walmart's stock took a steep drop as the company announced that it was expecting lower profits. There are a number of problems Wal-mart has, such as its website and fulfillment not being quite as good as Amazon.com, but Wal-mart is primarily a brick and mortar store, not an internet company. The basic problem as I see it is that middle class people are afraid to shop there. If you look at reviews on Yelp one of the most common words used to describe Wal-mart is "ghetto". There is even a Yahoo question on this very topic: Why is every Walmart...

Wal-Mart's second profit warning in two months should be a wake-up call for the political left. If America's largest private employer is struggling with its own pay increases, how will other businesses cope with even larger minimum-wage hikes? Long the scourge of progressives for its relatively low wages, Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) announced early this year that it would unilaterally boost its own base wage, first to $9 an hour this past April and to $10 by February 2016. "People have known that $10 was coming for a while," Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon told CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday. "This news today...
