UFO sightings and an "alien abduction" are detailed in thousands of close-encounter documents released by the National Archives. Previously classified documents reveal the UFO phenomenon was discussed at the highest level of government worldwide. In December 1977, the Government used its influence to talk down a call by Grenada president Sir Eric Gairy for a UN agency to conduct research into alien sightings. About a year later, the House of Lords held a debate on the subject of UFOs, the files show. One of the documents describes a "War of the Worlds" incident in 1967 that was treated as a...

“I saw a ship and two creatures inside of this ship… And they were connected to me, tapped into my mind through some kind of mysterious wireless connection,” explains Sammy Hagar in his new book, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock. The brief memoir, whose release coincides with "Alien Abduction Day", is not the first instance in which the former Van Halen singer has offered public disclosures of ET contact. A new report from a Vancouver audio lab suggests that Sammy Hagar was covertly communicating about alien abduction as early as 1991.

Why do Americans drive around in Fred Flintstone vehicles and what's the underlying problem behind the vast majority of Brits buying Fords and Vauxhalls year after year? Why does your tap water taste like sh*t and why don't Italians tear down buildings that no longer are in use? What's the idea of building a house out of cardboard? Denmark has the highest wages on Earth. Norway can compete. OK. But why is it that every time I visit our dear western neighbors I feel sorry for people driving wrecks instead of Volvo V70s? Is the V70 a far too sophisticated...

Air traffic controllers in Siberia claim they were buzzed by a high-speed UFO with a female sounding alien who spoke in an unintelligible cat-like language. The mystery object suddenly burst onto flight monitors over the remote Russian diamond capital of Yakutsk. It was shown flying at a speed of slightly over 6000 mph, and rapidly changing direction in the early morning sky, it is claimed.

Apollo 14 -- the safely numbered one after that, um, other one -- splashed down 40 years ago today. Since there were no dancing-on-the-edge death-defying dramatic escapes on this one, the mission is largely lost to history. It did get NASA back on track, of course, and paved the way for as many additional moon landings as the budget could afford (three). But there were some oddities attached to Apollo 14. Here are six: 6. The astronauts got lost on the moon. 4. Astronaut Ed Mitchell became a raving UFO loon. 2. Shepard: Least-liked Apollo astronaut? Shepard was a Machiavellian,...

A glowing orb filmed hovering over the skyline of Jerusalem has left UFO experts dumbfounded. The circular object was seen descending slowly over the holy city's iconic Dome of the Rock before flickering and shooting skyward like a rocket. Similar clips have been seen before and debunked as hoaxes. But this latest sighting has proved more difficult to dismiss -- as it was recorded from four different perspectives. Some UFO enthusiasts believe the videos -- which have taken the Internet by storm -- are final proof that aliens exist, while others say the unidentified object was the Hebrew god Elohim....

Video taken from Jerusalem this weekend showing a dancing, glowing ball hovering over the famous Dome of the Rock has some crying “UFO.” And so far, the images have no official explanation. The video shows the ball drop down from the sky, sitting atop the religious site for about 25 seconds, and then quickly shoot up to the heavens like a rocket. The event was captured by at least two separate cameras stationed at different places in the city:

Indonesia’s first crop circles have appeared -- and locals call it evidence of alien life. Found in a rice field in a hamlet of Sleman, Yogyakarta, the crop circle consists of triangles and circles with a diameter of about 70 meters. While some observes say the shapes are manmade, local scientists and government officials are struggling for a concrete explanation, leaving UFO enthusiasts murmuring of extraterrestrials. "According to several residents, they saw a tornado on Saturday evening," said Ngadiran, one of six farmers who owns the land in Sleman. "On Sunday afternoon, we saw the footprint in our fields." The...

A shocking and provocative example of time travel has been uncovered on FreeRepublic, it can now be disclosed. A Freeper has surfaced in a bizarre time-travel loop where the Freeper was communicating with himself, across the time span of January 12, 2011, going back in time to Tuesday, March 18, 2003. The proof of this can be seen at the link: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/867665/posts?page=21#21 It is not certain if the Freeper was "logged on" or "logged off", or if there was a beeber involved. Either way, this is stuning.
