Outside the Benito Juárez migrant shelter in Tijuana, dozens stood in line Monday for a chance to return to their home country, a day after chaotic clashes at the border dimmed their hopes of entering the United States. Members of the Central American migrant caravan slumped in a line late afternoon to ask for return passage, after traveling for more than a month and trekking thousands of miles by foot, by bus and crammed into the beds of trucks for days. Some were tired and reluctantly surrendered their dream of going to the United States, rather than face months more...

The Twitter feud between Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) continues. On Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez attempted to compare the Central American caravan's riders to Jews fleeing from Nazi Germany. Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime. It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America. https://t.co/qhv7Rr1itn— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Ocasio2018) November 25, 2018 It wasn't long before Sen. Lindsey Graham chimed in and suggested Ocasio-Cortez learn more about the Holocaust. I recommend she take a...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), fresh off her underdog congressional win in New York, is quickly distancing herself from the Trump White House. While the president is sending troops down to the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent the 7,500-strong migrant caravan from entering the U.S., Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Sunday that we have nothing to fear from these individuals who are simply seeking asylum. Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime. It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central...

Solalinde accuses NGO of deceiving migrants; He says that he was deceived along with the Central American and Mexican migrants, the caravan brought polleros (human traffickers) and armed persons to the city. "Here the negative actor is the organization, Pueblo Sin Fronteras.", says Fr. Solalinde. There is no greater champion for Central American migrants; Alejandro Solalinde Guerra is a Mexican Catholic priest and human rights activist. He is the coordinator of the South Pacific Human Mobility Ministry of the Mexican Bishopric and director of "Hermanos en el Camino", a shelter that provides Central American migrants with humanitarian aid and education....

Mexico will deport almost 500 migrants who attempted to storm the US border, according to its interior ministry. The group were rounded up after trying to cross the border "violently" and "illegally" on Sunday, the ministry said in a statement. Video footage shows dozens of people - including women and children - running towards the fence that separates the two countries near the city of Tijuana. They were repelled by tear gas used by US border officers. Mexico's interior ministry said all those who were identified as having tried to cross would be deported immediately. It added that, "far from...

Authorities clashed with groups that are believed to be from the Central American migrant caravan Sunday after a group estimated to be in the hundreds stormed a US port of entry. Migrants walked from a makeshift shelter in Tijuana, Mexico to head to San Ysidro, the largest port of entry on the southern US border to confront border authorities and make asylum claims. The confrontation comes less than a day after President Donald Trump tweeted that the United States will no longer allow asylum-seekers to enter the country until their claims are approved by a judge. Authorities clashed with members of...

Is this another case of fake news or is the incoming left-wing populist government simply trying to play hardball with Señor Trump? Hours after the Washington Post reported that a supposed deal had been met to keep the Central American migrant caravan in Mexico as the United States sorts through asylum applications, Mexico's incoming foreign minister denied that any agreement had been reached and that conversations are still continuing. According to the BBC, "Marcelo Ebrard denied reaching an agreement which would see asylum seekers waiting in Mexico while their claims were processed in US courts." Likewise, the man who will serve in president-elect...

TIJUANA, Mexico, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The United States closed the San Isidro Point of Entry on the California-Mexico border Sunday, as thousands of migrants traveling in a caravan from Central America arrived. The migrants were waiting to cross the border when U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced via loudspeaker that the port of entry was closed. Pandemonium ensued, with many migrants storming through downtown Tijuana, looking for another way over the border. Thousands more people who were marching in support of the caravan added to the confusion in the crowds. Mexican authorities were overwhelmed. U.S. Navy and CBP helicopters...

Images and videos posted on social media Sunday afternoon appeared to show hundreds of migrants from the leading Central American caravan pushing past Mexican riot police and rushing the border at the port of entry in San Ysidro, Calif., in a major test for both U.S. border authorities and Mexican officials. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have suspended northbound and southbound vehicle and pedestrian crossings at the San Ysidro POE, ...and tear gas was apparently being fired from the U.S. side of the border. It was not immediately clear if any of the caravan made it past the port...

The US Customs and Border Protection office in San Diego has closed road and pedestrian bridges in both directions at the San Ysidro port of entry. San Ysidro is one of the largest land border crossings between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. The agency said it has also deployed extra personnel to the border crossing. "Due to the multiple planned demonstrations on both sides of the border, CBP deployed additional personnel to the San Ysidro port of entry on Sunday," the agency said.

On Oct. 10, 2018, USCIS published its proposed rule, “Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds.” The public comment period is open for 60 days from Oct. 10, 2018, to Dec. 10, 2018. (Read our press release from Sep. 24 when the text of the proposed rule was posted on the DHS website.) The administration published a proposed rule that would make it much more difficult for immigrants to apply for legal immigration status in the United States. The proposed rule would drastically expand the definition of what it means to be a public charge, which could prevent an immigrant from maintaining...

A mother who scaled the U.S.-Mexico border fence near the San Ysidro Port of Entry Friday night fell and was impaled by pieces of rebar, Border Patrol said Saturday. The 26-year-old Guatemalan woman was with her two children, ages 3 and 5, when she crossed illegally, said Border Patrol Agent Tekae Michael. She told agents she was not part of the massive migrant caravan camped out in Tijuana, Michael said. Border Patrol arrived to render medical aid about 8:25 p.m. and requested assistance from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Tijuana (Mexico) (AFP) - Hundreds of Central American migrants staged a boisterous demonstration on the US Mexico border Thursday, screaming for President Donald Trump to let them in as US soldiers and riot police put on a menacing show of force. The increased tension over the presence of a thousands-strong migrant caravan came as Trump marked Thanksgiving Day by threatening to close the border if he thinks Mexico has lost control of it. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the busy San Ysidro crossing came to a halt for 40 minutes as dozens of US police wearing helmets and holding rifles...
