This morning Russian Navy ships and submarines left their base at Novorossiysk, in the Black Sea, en-masse. This is highly unusual and may indicate ongoing operations. Sources seen by Naval News confirm the exodus. The group included the Project 11711 Ivan Gren class landing ship, Pyotr Morgunov, the largest amphibious ship in the Black Sea. It also contained all three Project 636.3 Improved-Kilo class submarines which were present at the base. Analysis suggests that other warships were also sailing, leaving only a few warships and support vessels in the port. It is likely the most empty that Novorossiysk has been...

A California woman who won't face felony charges for pepper spraying Black Friday Walmart shoppers is considering a lawsuit claiming that the national retailer didn't provide enough security for the post-Thanksgiving shopping spree. Elizabeth Macias, 32, said she fired the stinging spray after shoppers attacked her two teenage children as they tried to obtain X-Box video game consoles for purchase, attorney Michael Champ, Macias' lawyer, told CBS News' Los Angeles station KCBS Friday

The terrorists who held kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit for over five years will take center stage alongside Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal in Cairo when he greets the first 477 of 1,027 terrorists being traded for Shalit's release. Some observers, who noted Israel only promised not to pursue the freed terrorists on condition they do not return to terrorism, made no such promises about those who abducted him and held him captive. According to the Hamas affiliated Palestine Information Center website, the trade of Shalit for the first 477 security prisoners - most of whom are terrorists - will begin at...

An ACORN insider just told me that the group is planning to send hundreds of activists to Capitol Hill this Wednesday to press lawmakers to approve the porkulus spending legislation that would give the heavily tax-subsidized ACORN a shot at up to $5.2 billion in taxpayer dollars. I wrote a massive profile of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) in the November Foundation Watch, have written several articles about ACORN in the American Spectator, and talked about ACORN on "The G. Gordon Liddy Show" on Feb. 6. Meanwhile, the D.C. Examiner has a good primer by Kristen Lopez...

It's a bit late, I know. But I should post this. On September 9, 2007, a pre-9/11 celebration of sorts will be taking place in New York City, as Islamists from across the Tri-State area will congregate there for the 22nd Annual Muslim Day Parade. If past parades are any indication, law enforcement will need to be on high alert, as the participants have been amongst the most radical in the nation. Will the city allow this denigration of a very somber day to take place, or will it remember its many victims of terrorism and shut it down? The...

Saudis Arrest Christian for Entering Mecca By Michael Freund The Jerusalem Post, May 25, 2007 www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1178708675932&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull Saudi officials have arrested a man in Mecca for being a Christian, saying that the city, which Muslims consider to be holy, is off-limits to non-Muslims. Nirosh Kamanda, a Sri Lankan Christian, was detained by the Saudi Expatriates Monitoring Committee last week after he started to sell goods outside Mecca's Great Mosque. After running his fingerprints through a new security system, Saudi police discovered that he was a Christian who had arrived in the country six months earlier to take a job as a...

Anger in Holland over 'apartheid' Islamic hospital By (Filed: 05/10/2006) Plans for a Muslim-only hospital in Holland have sparked a heated debate over its separate all-male and all-female wings, halal food and roster of duty imams. A populist Right-wing party described the plan for the clinic in south Rotterdam as "a step backwards to the Middle Ages". There will be segregation between the sexes, with male patients treated by an exclusively male nursing and medical staff and similar arrangements for females. Holland's once proud multi-cultural model, which promoted tolerance of a rapidly growing immigrant population, has been sharply questioned in...

(A quite bizarre story about Alton Towers (an amusement park in England) and a deliciously politically incorrect (but sane!) commentary...) A couple's plans for a £5,000 wedding at Alton Towers were thrown into confusion yesterday after it emerged that the theme park had double booked them with a fun day for 20,000 Muslims. Amanda Morris, 30, and her fiance, Scott Lee, 31, have been told that if they go ahead with the ceremony they will not be allowed to go on celebratory rides together. Furthermore, Miss Morris and her female guests will have to cover up to be in line...

BY JAY ROOT Knight Ridder Newspapers ALTAR, Mexico - Some towns thrive on manufacturing. Others are known for their fertile soil or tourist attractions. In Altar there is only one industry of any visibility and consequence: immigrant smuggling. A 60-mile drive along the back roads to the United States, this dusty town is the last stop on the line, a place to buy water, food and the accoutrement of choice for illegal desert crossers - a backpack. "Altar is just like a big Wal-Mart for smugglers," said Sean King, spokesman for the Tucson, Ariz., sector of the U.S. Border Patrol,...

On Boston Common, Punam Rogers will join other Indian émigrés, as well as business clients and students from China, Germany, and Britain. In Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ivalier Duvra will take to the streets to draw attention to Haitian newcomers who he says need refugee status. Coming on the heels of demonstrations in several larger cities, a National Day of Action on Immigrant Rights Monday is expected to involve people in some 90 US municipalities, well above...

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accepted an invitation to visit Cuba from President Fidel Castro, in gratitude for Cuba's support of Iran's nuclear program, the official Granma newspaper said on Tuesday. Ahmadinejad accepted the invitation in Tehran from Cuban Ambassador Felipe Perez Roque. During his visit, the Iranian leader will attend the September 11-16 Non-Aligned Summit in Havana, the daily said. On Saturday in Vienna, Cuba, Venezuela and Syria voted against a resolution of the International Atomic Energy Agency to refer Iran to the UN Security Council over a nuclear program the West suspects is weapons-oriented. The Iranian President recently...

JERUSALEM - Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party will only form a coalition government with parties willing to negotiate with Israel and will not ask Hamas militants to join if they do not renounce violence, a top official said Sunday. However, Fatah's top candidate, jailed Palestinian uprising leader Marwan Barghouti, said Sunday that Fatah and Hamas "are heading toward being partners in the field, and in parliament." Barghouti, interviewed in an Israeli prison by the Arab satellite TV station Al-Jazeera, did not say what partnership he envisioned. Recent polls indicate that Fatah and Hamas are running neck-and-neck ahead of Wednesday's...

SAUDI Arabia has said more than half a million Muslims had arrived for next month's haj pilgrimage to Mecca and had been checked for disease, amid fears about the global spread of bird flu. State news agency SPA quoted Health Minister Hamad al-Manei as saying the 622,000 pilgrims who had arrived up to now for the rites, due to begin in the second week of January, were "clear of any virus or illness". "Anyone found to have an illness is sent back to his country immediately," he said, adding the kingdom had beefed up health checks at arrival points around...

Heavy crowd gathers in L.A. for funeral of executed former gang leader at 18:39 on December 20, 2005, EST. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Celebrities from hip-hop star Snoop Dogg to motivational speaker Tony Robbins lamented the execution of Stanley Tookie Williams at a funeral Tuesday that drew hundreds to the violence-wracked area where Williams founded the murderous Crips gang three decades ago. Mourners, including gang members flashing hand signs, waited in line to enter the 1,500-seat Bethel AME Church. Under heavy police presence, vendors sold T-shirts with Williams' picture, and a large TV set up in the parking lot allowed...

Insurgents have attacked US bases and government offices in Ramadi, in western Iraq, and then dispersed throughout the city, residents say. Scores of heavily-armed insurgents fired mortars and rockets at the buildings and then occupied several main streets. The attack came as local leaders and US military officials were meeting at the al-Anbar provincial governor's office. Ramadi has been a rebel stronghold for many months. Residents in Ramadi told the Reuters news agency that hundreds of heavily armed men in masks were patrolling the main streets of the city and had set up checkpoints. Citizens said leaflets distributed by the...

A MASSIVE mosque that will hold 40,000 worshippers is being proposed beside the Olympic complex in London to be opened in time for the 2012 Games. The project’s backers hope the mosque and its surrounding buildings would hold a total of 70,000 people, only 10,000 fewer than the Olympic stadium. Its futuristic design features wind turbines instead of the traditional minarets, while a translucent latticed roof would replace the domes seen on most mosques. The complex is designed to become the “Muslim quarter” for the Games, acting as a hub for Islamic competitors and spectators. “It will be something never...

Iran's volunteer Islamic militiamen are vowing to form a human chain along the length of the country's borders as a show of force against international pressure on Tehran's atomic program. Iran faces referral to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions after failing to convince the world its nuclear fuel program is intended for power stations rather than warheads. Mohammad Hejazi, head of the volunteer basij militia, swore he had enough people to girdle the country. "Nine million basij will form a human chain around Iran on November 26 in support of the country's right to peaceful nuclear energy," he...
