An 18-year-old student who opened fire during a fight at his Dallas-area high school and injured four people on Wednesday has been taken into custody, authorities said. Timothy George Simpkins fled from Timberview High School in Arlington after the Wednesday morning shooting and drove off in a silver Dodge Charger, police said. The Arlington Police Department tweeted hours after the shooting that Simpkins had been taken into custody without incident and charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault with a gun.

An Arkansas cop was killed when the driver of a Jeep ran him over as the suspect was attempting to make a getaway from police for a separate crime, reports said. An employee at an Alabama plant fatally shot two people and wounded two others early Tuesday, police and company officials said. The gunfire at the Mueller Company plant in Albertville broke out at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, WAAY reported, citing a company spokesman. The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division is looking for information to find the person who shot an arrow through a Red-tailed Hawk. The division received reports of the wounded falcon Sunday in the Hartselle area of Morgan County.
