A report in London-based Arabic language newspaper Al-Arab Monday said that Israeli planes over the weekend destroyed a warehouse in Sudan that was holding a large number of long-range Iranian missiles. The missiles belonged to Hamas, and were to be used against Israel after they were smuggled into Gaza. According to the report, eyewitnesses said they saw a "huge explosion" after planes flew over the building. Six people were injured in the attack, witnesses said. The resulting blaze required the services of large numbers of firefighters, they added. Sudanese officials confirmed that there was an explosion, but denied any connection...

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. expressed “extreme, extreme concern” on Sunday over reports that bomb makers from Yemen responsible for the 2009 underwear-bomb plot are now in Syria cooperating with foreign militants there, possibly to develop new, nearly undetectable explosive devices. Asked on Sunday whether that threat was a “clear and present danger,” Mr. Holder responded: “I think it is. In some ways, it’s more frightening than anything I think I’ve seen as attorney general.”

With the rise of Islamist organizations, repressive regimes, and civil conflicts which threaten regional stability, the promise of the Arab Spring of 2011 quickly devolved into an Arab winter. In an expansive article in The Economist, the threat to the Middle East is discussed in appropriately grave terms; Syria and Iraq are in flames while Jordan looms as the next domino to potentially fall. Libya and Yemen, where Islamic terror networks operate with impunity, are labeled “failed states.” Those Middle Eastern nations that are not in danger of imminent collapse are either absolute monarchies or counties which merely maintain...

Abd Al Nabi told Hardwired, “Since taking Mariem’s case, extremists say we are not Muslim and are threatening our lives if we don’t drop her case.” When asked why he is risking his life for human rights and religious freedom, Abd Al Nabe continued, “I defend everyone regardless of their beliefs because we all share a common humanity and no one’s life should be taken because of what they believe. All of the laws need to be changed including those affecting religious freedom

President Ronald Reagan’s former National Security Advisor Robert McFarlane recently honored Ground Zero mosque imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, tainting his former boss’s legacy in so doing. Making matters worse is that Abubaker Y. Ahmed Al Shingieti, the Vice President of the organization that hosted the event was for years a high ranking henchman in Sudan’s terrorist regime and is today a stealth jihadist who leads a Muslim Brotherhood front group. Last year, it was reported that McFarlane may have illegally represented the government of Sudan and that the FBI seized documents in a raid of his apartment. One of the...

Sudanese Christian mother Meriam Ibrahim is facing a new lawsuit after her Islamic relatives submitted a case on Thursday trying to prove that she is a Muslim, which would make her marriage to a Christian man illegal under Islamic Shariah Law. The lawsuit could further delay Ibrahim's hopes to travel with her husband and children to the U.S. and seek refuge. Abdel Rahman Malek, the lawyer hired by Ibrahim's Muslim family, said that the Khartoum Religious Court will be reviewing their case "asking to prove that Meriam Ibrahim belongs to her (Muslim) father and family," according to Reuters. The 27-year-old...

Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese Christian woman who was recently released from prison after facing the death penalty, now says that her newborn daughter is physically disabled after she was forced to give birth in jail while in shackles. Ibrahim, who is currently trying to leave Sudan after being freed from prison, spoke for the first time about the May 27 birth in a recent interview with The Guardian. At eight months pregnant, Ibrahim had been sentenced to death for apostasy and adultery due to her Christian faith. She was then forced to give birth while shackled in the Omdurman Federal...

Looks like the move to the US embassy in Khartoum has paid off for Meriam Ibrahim, the young Christian mother sentenced to death for her faith in Sudan. Now out of the reach of Sudanese security forces, Reuters reports that Sudan has now begun negotiations to get Ibrahim and her family out of the country: Sudanese authorities and U.S. officials in Khartoum are negotiating to allow a Sudanese woman, who married an American and was recently spared the death penalty for converting to Christianity, to leave Sudan, sources close to the case said. …“There are talks going on currently...

The husband of a Sudanese Christian woman facing threats after her apostasy death sentence was overturned has expressed relief that the family has been given refuge at the US embassy in Khartoum. "Really, it's good," Daniel Wani, the American husband of Meriam Ibrahim, told Agence France-Presse by telephone on Friday, adding that embassy staff had been "very helpful and very nice". He said his wife and two children, who could be heard in the background, were doing well at the heavily guarded facility. Ibrahim, 27, went to the US embassy on Thursday after being detained at Khartoum airport as she...

The Christian Sudanese woman released from prison and then re-arrested at Khartoum airport Tuesday has now been charged with fraud and banned from leaving the country, according to authorities. Meriam Ibrahim, who has been held in a Sudanese prison with her son since February, was freed of her death sentence for practicing her Christian faith, after international groups and government officials put pressure on the Sudanese government. Ibrahim gave birth to a baby girl while in prison. Ibrahim was then re-arrested at the airport with her husband and two children. Now, new charges are being brought against her for allegedly...

The Sudanese woman who was sentenced to death for being a Christian has been released from her latest detention but has been charged with new crimes, MailOnline can reveal. Meriam Ibrahim has been accused of falsifying travel documents as she tried to leave the African country hours after the death penalty was dropped against her. It is understood that the authorities told her she should have used the Muslim name she had when she was born, not the Christian name she uses after choosing to worship that faith.

And so the disrespect by the Sudanese government for America continues. Last night it was widely reported that Meriam Ibrahim had been released from prison. However, as reported today by CNN, she was rearrested Tuesday at an airport as she was trying to leave the African country. Ibrahim, her American husband, Daniel Wani, and their two children were stopped at an airport in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, and then detained and interrogated at Khartoum’s national security headquarters. Why didn’t the U.S. State Department provide escort for this family to depart this Islamist state? Where are Barack and Michelle on this case?...
