No sooner had Sudanese officials informed the world that Meriam Ibrahim had not been re-arrested and would be freed again after the nation’s courts released her from prison than news reports surfaced today that she would be charged with fraud and prevented from leaving the country.

She’s out on bail but facing new charges of document fraud:

The Sudanese woman who was sentenced to death for being a Christian has been released from her latest detention but has been charged with new crimes, MailOnline can reveal.

Meriam Ibrahim has been accused of falsifying travel documents as she tried to leave the African country hours after the death penalty was dropped against her.

It is understood that the authorities told her she should have used the Muslim name she had when she was born, not the Christian name she uses after choosing to worship that faith.

This is trumped up nonsense as the Slammies are going around with chips on their shoulders. The obvious answer would be fix the document. Fraud schmaud, I’m sure she doesn’t care if her form says Mickey Mouse, she’s outta there.

And they wonder why no one wants to tour their country. Are you kidding me? Beyond Ignorant. If John Kerry could rescue this woman and that Marine in Mexico Tamooressi(sp), I would hold him in higher regard forever! Even if he did it only for the personal glory to himself, I wouldn’t care.

It’s easy to send email to the Sudanese embassy in DC. Just search for ‘Sudan Embassy in DC’.

Here’s my email:

Dear Sir or Madam: Until Sudan began to sadistically terrorize Meriam Ibrahim, her babies & her husband, I did not realize what a hellhole of a country it is. It is savage, barbaric, cruel, inhumane and rancid. It stinks like a pig farm. You should be ashamed to be seen in public. Indeed, I hope you are, and are hiding inside the embassy, mortified to show your face. The country you represent is a stench on humanity.

The next president of the United States, if God gives us that much time, will be Ted Cruz or Rand Paul. Whichever one it is will make Sudan pay and pay and pay for the evil you are inflicting on this innocent woman and her precious babies. Take my word for this; it is true. So enjoy your sadistic brutality while you can. Soon we will have a president who doesn’t take kindly to the subhuman abuse of tender little US babies.

Sincerely, x

More on #1 Husband of Sudanese 'apostate' says fearful family wants out

"We are worried. That's why we want to get out of here as soon as possible," Daniel Wani told AFP from a Khartoum police station where his wife, Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag, 26, is being questioned. ...

Police are investigating the authenticity of her travel documents after authorities stopped the family from leaving Sudan on Tuesday following an annulment of her apostasy death sentence.

They were trying to travel to Washington, D.C., said Wani.

"We are supposed to be there," he said, insisting there is nothing wrong with the travel documents.

Ishag was detained by national security agents at Khartoum airport, despite the presence of United States embassy diplomats who were escorting them, Wani said. ..... "I'm the one who issued that travel document to her," Kau Nak told AFP. "My signature is on the back of the document."

He said neither the police nor any other official had contacted him about its authenticity.

"It is a normal document we give to our citizens when they are returning home. We gave that to her and her kids", Kau Nak said, explaining that Ishag is entitled to the document because her husband and children are South Sudanese.Kau Nak said he signed the papers, which are valid for three months, on Tuesday morning after they provided all relevant documentation including a marriage certificate.

There are no direct flights to the United States from Sudan, which has been under an American trade embargo since 1997.

"Nobody knows" how long the police investigation will take, one of Ishag's lawyers, Mohanad Mustafa said, adding that she was not under arrest.

In Washington on Tuesday, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf downplayed the incident and said US officials would work with Khartoum to ensure the family would soon be on its way.

I had just written this story up for my parish newsletter, before I just discoveed that Meriam Ibrahim is actually a Catholic! She was raised as Ethiopian Coptic (Orthodox) by her mother, but was received into the Catholic Church --- according to the article --- in 2011, shortly before her marriage to Daniel Wani, a Catholic.

Naturally, it makes no difference if she's Catholic, Coptic, or Crispy Crunchy, what they're doing to her is a horrendous crime. However, what's jaw-dropping to me is that her ON-GOING martyrdom is being practically ignored, not only by the secular media, but even by the Catholic media. Except for a few faithful bloggers.

That blows my mind. It just blows my mind.
