U.S. ought to send a platoon of Marines to escort Meriam Ibrahim to safety

And so the disrespect by the Sudanese government for America continues. Last night it was widely reported that Meriam Ibrahim had been released from prison. However, as reported today by CNN, she was rearrested Tuesday at an airport as she was trying to leave the African country. Ibrahim, her American husband, Daniel Wani, and their two children were stopped at an airport in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, and then detained and interrogated at Khartoum’s national security headquarters.

Why didn’t the U.S. State Department provide escort for this family to depart this Islamist state? Where are Barack and Michelle on this case?

This is blatant disregard for and an affront to an American citizen.

Wani, in a phone call to CNN, also said that he and his family were being held at the national security office, but did not provide details. The developments came a day after Ibrahim’s legal team announced she’d been released from prison after weeks of international controversy over her conviction on apostasy and adultery charges.

The case began when one of Ibrahim’s brothers, a Muslim, filed a criminal complaint saying her family was shocked to find out Ibrahim had married Wani, a Christian, after she was missing for several years, according to her lawyer. The court considered Ibrahim a Muslim because her father was Muslim, but she proclaimed to be a Christian. So she was charged with adultery, because a Muslim woman’s marriage to a Christian man is illegal in Sudan, and with apostasy, accused of illegally renouncing her original faith.

“I am a Christian,” she said during her sentencing hearing last month, “and I will remain a Christian.”‘ After her sentence drew international condemnation from rights groups and foreign embassies in Khartoum — including those of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada — an appeals court this month ruled that the judgment against her was faulty, and she was released, according to her lawyer.

The arrogance of the Sudanese government is demonstrated by the statement of Sudanese Parliament speaker Fatih Izz Al-Deen, who defended the conviction last month, insisting thhe claims that Ibrahim was raised as non-Muslim are untrue. She was raised in an Islamic environment, Al-Deen said.

The message needs to be sent to Sudan by a platoon of U.S. Marines who will escort this family out of this backassward barbaric state to safety. The Sudanese have crossed a “red line” — they are unlawfully detaining an American family. But then again, why not? Obama has allowed the Mexican government to do the same to U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi. Obama has allowed the Iranians to do so to American Pastor Saeed Abedini. Obama has allowed the North Koreans to do so with American Kenneth Bae.

But Obama made a big deal about recovering a known deserter as he released five senior Taliban. I have to ask again, whose side is he on?

I don’t think we’re still strong enough to do that, Lt. West. Even if the will existed in the chain of command.

They are Christians and Obama could not care less about what happens to Christians.

As I had posted in another thread, as soon as she got out yesterday, they should have gone to South Sudan and left from there to America.

Send those marines to Mexico to get our marine back and THEN go get the woman (who is not a U.S. citizen). We need to get our priorities straight.

This is an outrage. Three of these people are American Citizens while the other is the spouse of an America. Where is our government? where is the supposed all caring Democrat POTUS? Probably at some golf range, or speaking at a fundraiser, or at a left-wing gathering of anti-American, anti-Christian, Anti-Semitic folks who are on the side of the ‘common man’. NOT!

But ... just before that let's go to Mexico and get a certain American being held there.

Heck, let's trade 10, no 20, no no, make that 50K youngsters from southward locations.

“Three of these people are American Citizens while the other is the spouse of an American.”

Any American who has children who travel abroad or might someday travel abroad should be horrified by what is now happening in Sudan. America is no longer strong enough to protect its own citizens. What we are seeing in Sudan, as well as throughout the world is a direct result of Obama and Democrat’s deliberate diminishing of America’s status as a world power.

The Sudanese are laughing at us, and they have plenty of company.

Where are Barack and Michelle on this case?

Barry is next on the Tee and Michelle couldn't be reached as she is on vacation.

Unfortunately she's not an American citizen.

Should have been picked up by the ambassador on release, gone immediately to the embassy, and set up a diplomatic flight, the entire time being escorted by part of the embassy marine security detail.

I’m thinking a division, with armor and air support.

I love the Marines but if you sent a platoon into a hell hole like that, they would end up getting carved up by the women.

No self-respecting United States Marine would want to be rescued first while the wife of an American citizen languishes in a hell-hole third world prison, who very recently gave birth to her second baby in shackles and did not receive proper medical care, who is now going to be whipped nearly to death and then beheaded for her religious beliefs. Not any of the Marines I have ever known, anyway.
